You know that you can disable the OpenRailwayMap overlay at openrailwaymap.org, don't you? I think that's a good replacement. In addition, our tiles are available as overlay (and as basemap) on http://mc.bbbike.org/mc/ A map which should be included into the openstreetmap.org website should be a basemap (it may have a special purpose like OpenCycleMap) and be able to handle all the traffic. The tag comes from the Simple Image MediaWiki extension. [1] You can specify layer="transport" to get the same rail- and bus-focused style as the Transport layer on osm.org. (Incidentally, layer="cycle" also works.) The extension's source code is on GitHub, if anyone is interested in improving it. [2] However, at this point, it sure would be nice to be able to use the Kartographer extension's slippy maps instead. [Talk-us] Rail rendering support in our wiki?
As I contribute to our wiki pages, I find it useful in certain circumstances to use this syntax: to display (instead of mapnik/Standard) a bicycle-oriented map (Cycle Map layer, note "layer=cycle" above). See, for example, http://wiki.osm.org/wiki/South_Bay_(SF),_California for Silicon Valley's unique "Expressways" and extensive bicycle infrastructure. As I also make USA rail contributions, is there any way that our wiki might allow similar "layer=rail" syntax to display OpenRailwayMap (.org), for example to display an appropriate rendering at the top of our California/Railroads wiki page? Also, if OSM's "layer" control (stack icon) added OpenRailwayMap, (to complement our Transport layer; thank you, Andy), that would be GREAT! Thanks in advance to whomever might get this or these "stitched in" to our wonderful project, SteveA California ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us
