Re: [OSM-Talk-ZA] Cape Town Mapping Party Venue - 3rd Nov 2012

2012-10-27 Thread Ryan Peel
My vote goes to Blouberg / Sandown, while it is not the most interesting of
areas, there is a lot of new developments/streets out that way that have
yet to be mapped fully.

If at all possible though, could we meet on Sunday (4th Nov) rather than
the Saturday as I am expected to be at a baby shower which is being held on
the Saturday for my soon to be born daughter. (cant argue with a pregnant
women unfortunately!)

If we do Blouberg / Sandown we could meet up at the Wimpy or something at
Bayside center. Its on the map so everyone should be able to find it quite
easily ;)

Cheers,
Ryan

 OSM South Africa,

Any suggestions for where we should have a mapping party? Nothing like
leaving it to the last minute...
 Saturday 3rd November 2012.

 Potential Areas:

 * City Bowl - Many shops, points of interested, addresses, buildings
etc to collect. Many good venues we could use as a base for meeting.
 * Blouberg / Sandown area - Unmapped areas... But where could we meet?
 * Atlantis - Bit of a drive, unmapped areas... Where to meet?
 * Other?

I am not a Capetonian, so would appreciate help deciding / organising.

I am free 4th November too...

 Code/Data Hack Weekend?
Anyone game for hack / coding weekend later in November for the
National Geographic Information (CD:NGI) vector data we have received?
I'd love to share some of the experience I have gained with GDAL /
MapServer etc. It would be fantastic if we could convince OpenSource
GIS experts Gavin Fleming (Paarl) of http://afrispatial.co.za/ and Tim
Sutton (Swellendam) of http://linfiniti.com/ to come along and share
 some their experience.

Lets make it Blouberg / Sandown then :)
4th Nov works for me, lets put that down at the date.

Wimpy/Bayside center sound good.
