Re: [OSM-Talk-ZA] Using umap for Wiki Loves Monuments
This is quite topical - just last week I did detail mapping of the South African Air Force Memorial after a visit, here: http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=17/-25.79913/28.16852 However, this is not a 'heritage object' according to SAHRA, so there is no ref. So just a little reminder - many monuments and memorials don't seem to feature in SAHRA's list. P.S. Golden opportunity for somebody to do some nice detail mapping of the Voortrekker monument (the building and grounds), it's quite 'bare' at the moment: http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=18/-25.77578/28.17673 Happy mapping all! -- Dawid Loubser Op Ma, 2013-09-30 om 02:46 +0100 skryf Grant Slater: > I raise you one... > > I have been adding the SAHRA (national monuments) directly into > OpenStreetMap... > Sample so far: http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/18R > > I am using tag: sahra = *sahra ref number* > > Others welcome to join in. > > / Grant > > > On 11 September 2013 15:31, David Richfield wrote: > > Hi all, > > > > I've put the coordinates of the SA Heritage sites that we got from > > SAHRA onto this map: http://umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/map/wlm_za_1657 > > > > I know how to import data into the map, but if users fix the map, how > > can I get the data back out? To answer my own question to the list for reference: the "embed/share" icon gives you the option to download the map data (e.g. in geojson format). Re: [OSM-Talk-ZA] Using umap for Wiki Loves Monuments
That's a very cool tool, so thanks for sharing! Unfortunately, it's not quite relevant to my problem. I've put the information on a separate layer in "umap". This is an application hosted on the French OSM servers (osm.fr), which allows you to put markers, lines, etc. over OSM data. It's very convenient for making useful embeddable marked-up maps for special purposes (for example, I put that map on http://wikilovesmonuments.co.za/wiki/Lists_of_monuments so that our users can look up the monuments for which we got data from SAHRA), but I need to know how to get the data back out if I crowdsource improvements to the data. Have a look at this post that Grant posted a while ago: Others might find this useful... Overpass is a fantastic service for querying OSM data: Example: Find all the hospitals in the Western Cape http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/or or All the schools... http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/ov I'm sure it could be adopted for what you want. [OSM-Talk-ZA] Using umap for Wiki Loves Monuments
Hi all, I've put the coordinates of the SA Heritage sites that we got from SAHRA onto this map: http://umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/map/wlm_za_1657 I know how to import data into the map, but if users fix the map, how can I get the data back out?
