[Tango-A] NA:W Token System for Portland October TangoFest

2011-09-09 Thread Clay Nelson
As you may already know, we are using a new token system for admission
to the daytime classes at the upcoming Portland TangoFest, Oct 5-10,
2011. Here are some nice features about it that I think you'll like:

* It provides maximum flexibility in choosing classes--even at the
last minute while the festival is going on.
* You can split your classes over several days and still receive the
bulk discount.
* You can buy tokens ahead of time for both yourself and your partner
(or friend) and again receive the bulk discount.

Specifically, here's how's it's gonna work:

(1) Six or more tokens purchased before Oct 1, 2011 are $21 each. (
Sorry, no more then 24 per registration).  Cost is $25 for less then
6, or purchased on-site at the festival.  (Go to
www.claysdancestudio.com, link to "2011 Portland TangoFest" and then
to "Prices and Registration" to buy.)
(2) Each token will be good for one daytime class of your choice and
are the only means of gaining admission to a class--i.e., cash,
checks, credit cards, first born son or effusive pleading will not be
accepted at the class room door. (The class instructor or their
assistant will collect your tokens in the class.)
(3) Pre-purchased tokens can be picked up at the Opening Milonga on
Wednesday evening, or at the registration desk in Norse Hall, 111 NE
11th Ave during the festival Thu-Sun 10:00a-4:00p. (Additional tokens
can also be purchased at the registration desk.)
(4) Tokens are not refundable and have no cash value. However, full
refunds (minus $15 for processing) will be given for cancellations for
any reason up until the first day of the festival (Oct 5, 2011.)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. ..clay

[Tango-A] NA-C: Dina Martinez in St Louis Sept 17-27

2011-09-09 Thread Shaun Sellers
Dina Martinez from El Motivo in Buenos Aires will
be visiting St Louis from Sept 17-27. She will be teaching
regular classes throughout her stay. A complete list
of classes and milongas is available at:

http://gatewaytango.org/class.html

About Dina Martinez:
Born in the San Telmo neighborhood of Buenos Aires
and trained as a Classic Dance Instructor, Dina Martinez
began dancing Tango and Folklore in 1987, studying
with such renowned masters as Gustavo Naveira, Antonio
Todaro, Pepito Avellaneda and Mariano “Chicho” Frúmboli.
Her wide experience and skill allowed her to be part of the mythical
investigation group led by Gustavo Naveira and Fabián Salas,
founders of a new and particular language for tango. Together
with prestigious dancers and teachers Valencia Batiuk and
Luciana Valle, she co-founded El Motivo Tango, revitalizing
the tradition of Tango in Buenos Aires by creating a place for
practice and dance without the formality of the milonga. Today,
El Motivo is the symbol of New Tango in Buenos Aires, providing
instruction for beginners as well as professional dancers.
