This could happen because very old versions of TB! did not store the

2000-03-18 Thread Simon

Existing, Listers, dia duit!

Oh, I am sorry. It was a bit forward of me wasn't it - posting without being
formerly introduced that is. ;)

I suppose being 'till now only a lowly TBUDL member, I should really of
highlighted my newness to the List first. As a simple matter of courtesy you
understand. Then on a subsequent occasions only, should I have become all
dramatic about my 'findings'. Ah, protocols, protocols.

So:

Hi TBBETA List people...and fore fathers and mothers. How are ya? I'm a new
Beta list poster. Do I get some brownie points for posting to TBUDL for a
little while now?

Anyway:

On Friday 18/03/2000 I posted the following comments to List @
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:

S> TB! 1.42 Beta/3 suffers from dodgy folder syndrome also. DON'T try and
S> drag folders into other folders whilst holding down the ALT key else your
S> message base gets cocked up. Produces a 'could not create a new index of
S> message base' dialog if you try it. If you are persistent you will
S> eventually loose your email from view!

Anyone tried this yet to confirm that it wasn't me?

S> My obvious advice, *bak up everything* before trying it.

Ops! I suppose this does come across rather condescendingly. Humble
apologies if it did so.

<-- is it the same as the fruit?

S> If it all goes topside, the values I deleted from under the RIT/The Bat!
S> registry keys to allow TB! to convert my backed up mail again were:

S> MessageBaseVersion 0x0003 (3)

I suppose whether you delete the Version value is of no importance. Expect
it is replaced by subsequent versions anyone, yes?

Yes, can confirm. Still in b/3. Standard _and_ checked is ISO-8859-1.
Ich have to check _none_ and close TB. After restart it shows 'Kyrillic'
and after changing to ISO... everything's OK again.

Why I Can't delete attachment file ?!

2000-03-18 Thread Wie

@HOME

Hi There!,

just want to know,.. why i can't delete attachment file
right now [manually] at preview pane ?!? Usually at that
file i right click my mouse and choose 'delete' and the
attachment will be deleted,... but now it can't ?

If this is a new feature at TB! [attachment inline with the
mail,..] i suggest to remove the delete option at right
click of the attachment.

And one again,... at TB! 1.42 Beta/? when i emptying my
trash can,.. 'n compress/purge all folder at my TB!,.. i
will find a '0 [zero] byte save' ?!?! BUT at old version
of TB! usually there will be 'some bytes save' ?!?!

is this a bug or what ?!?!

Thanks.

It's not really that bad.

The message is MOST probably still on the server - just press
Shift+Ctrl+F2 and Bat will give you a list of all mail on the server,
with an option to download or delete specific messages.
However, there is a bug in there. Even if you choose to deliberately
download this 1MB mail, Bat won't download it and again will just
create a "mail too big" message. So, you have to turn the size limit
OFF, then download this big message with the mail dispatcher, and then
turn the limit back on. Now that IS a bug.

I like the eudora option to just download the headers after which you
can (off-line) specify what you want to do with it during the next
download

My folders are where I want them to be. Also, I have already
been through the inconvenience of loosing messages during folder
compression and purges while using beta 1, and then having to restore
them from backup. This is the sort of bug that many will not
deliberately test for. We're therefore thankful that someone else
detected it. :)

No it didn't. That's the first thing I tried. TB! DOES delete
the message from the server. It's that bad. :)

It gets worse. I have to ditch this way out as well. Is this
when you leave messages on the server as well as set the MB limit? You
see, I don't leave my messages on the server since I manage my mail
from a single location. Do you leave your messages on the server for a
period of time? This is probably why you can go back and attempt
downloading a message exceeding the predefined size limit.

bug report: compressing folders doesn't work at all

Hello Everybody,

I just found out that the 'compress folder' doesn't work at all:
when you open up the message-base in an editor, you'll still see all
  the old messages inside...

This is the case with 1.42 beta 3...
so, my 'cosmetic bug' seems to be a real one instead :-)
