Ok, I think the crash is a local problem. But the message has a
text like: "Guten Morgen". It's a OE-Mime encrypted message.

The same error like Kevin Coates tests?

Jason, they already did it in the Uk 30 years ago with phones.

Its well known, the system exists, has been used for at least as long
as Internet exists, its the reason AOL was able to pay that silly
amount for ICQ and in short, YES.
100% sure. You havent even got a clue how much they can see. Which is
why likely the whole pgp is having a second key with a nice backdoor
provided my Ms which otherwise would have had the kick years ago.
The USA NEEDS an OS with backdoors all over the place used worldwide.

You want security, essentially forget any product provided by any
main
USA, UK, French and likely Russian provider...

Interesting. I just added a second cert because I use two e-mail
addresses. Since then, The BAT! cannot decrypt S/MIME encrypted messages
created with Outlook Express in either plain text or HTML format. When I
click on the encryted icon in The Bat, nothing happens. If I create the
e-mail using The Bat, I can decrypt it okay using The Bat.

At the moment, you need to use Filter.

No, the "Import Key" feature applies to PGP only, but I think you are
right in that there should be an easier method of importing
Certificates. Using Filters does not discriminate enough... you either
accept everyone's Certificate, or none. There are ways of being more
discriminate, but again that involves the use of Filters.

Hmmm? Is the requirement to add yourself as a Root CA documented
somewhere? I don't see why that is required? As far as I can tell, I
don't have any invalid certificates in my Address Book as you say you
have. Making a new entry under "Trusted Root CA" changed all your
existing Certificates of others from invalid to valid?

Hello Lionel,

Lionel ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) typed:

You couldn't nip over to England could you? I'll make you a cup of
  tea :-)

As it happens there are two notaries about 50 miles from me in
Cambridge. One works in Addenbrooks hospital which is the main
  Cancer hospital in the UK.

My 4 year old daughter has Cancer (Neuroblastoma stage 4 for the
medically minded chap among us). She is currently in remission and
has been for two years. I spent the first two years virtually living
in that hospital so I try now to avoid it as much as possible until
such time as is absolutely necessary. Otherwise It would only take a
40 minute journey to get notaried...

I'm not too bothered about it. It would be nice to have a signed
cert but it would really only be a status thing rather than a
  functional one.

Anyway, where did all these notaries come from? Have you all been
reading this list all the time or is it because of the sudden influx
of Certificate applications from Bat users on Thawte? :-)

Certificates into the address book.

2000-07-20 Thread Jerry Cook

Hi

Am I missing something here??? - probably.

Without using a filter, how do I import peoples public certificates into
the certificates section of my address book?

Should the 'import key' option (when right clicking on the yellow 'valid
signature icon) import the certificate into the address book? Maybe this
part is not yet implemented - or maybe I'm missing the point totally.

Best regards,
 Jerry mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I think SyP is talking about the "real name" part of the "TO:"

It is optional: Account settings -- options -- "Allow 8 bit characters

Okay, the keyboard problem is fixed with a normal shutdown and restart

No and I did that. Suddenly all the certificates in my address

successfully. Thanks.

Multiple Account Bug??????

2000-07-20 Thread Jerry Cook

Hi

I'm not sure if this is a recent bug, or if it's always been like it,
and I've never noticed.

Using The Bat 1.45b11 Under NT4 (SP6) - with multiple mail accounts.

If I initiate The Bat by dragging a file to The Bat icon on the desktop
(in order to send that file as an attachment), the message editor is
displayed with the attached file correctly.

But, the mail account that TB has selected to send the message is the
default account, and not the active account. I'm sure the active account
was used in the past? - Maybe I'm wrong.

Comments

Cheers
Jerry

I sent Nick an encrypted message and it worked fine. I've just sent

Only thing I can think of is, have you just put your cert in your

Have you tried Alt+P+S? Most of TB!'s shortcuts are triple key
combos anyway. :-)

I used to have message save enabled but I found I spent way more
time manually deleting drafts from the outbox after deciding not to send
a message, rather than breathing a sigh of relief when TB! crashes or I
accidentally delete the message. The latter is difficult to pull off
anyway with the message delete confirmation popup dialog.

I found the culprit in my case: there is an Exchange Server along the
winding road to my mailbox (no, the POP mailbox itself is on another
machine), which strips selectively some attachments (and let's a
fingerprint in the mail: it changes the X-Mailer header. I was already
wondering, why all the people on tbbeta, even Maxim, habe begun using
Internet Mail Service...)
