I've come across this problem before; unfortunately, it's difficult to stop as, if people want to put up details of every last beta, they'll find a way of doing it (Opera, at the moment, is in the same position, with the new betas announced on a public newsgroup, opera.beta, and that information being passed on elsewhere). I suppose a solution _might_ be to password-protect the ftp directory but not change the password every time there's a new beta (otherwise it's more trouble than it's worth); people might take that as a hint that the betas are not to be made generally available. > Question is - how they (betanews) know about new betas? SOT: Suggestion to developers
Hi, all and especially Ritlabs! Not so long ago I have found an interview with developers on www.silverstones.com It is dated 10/01/2000 and the main issue was the plans of v2. Maybe developers and Marck Pearlstone would find the time (and place) and clear out the questions of v2, v1.54, the release of these versions, the next beta-series, AV plugin and other hot topics. But I changed the connection type to regular and use POP details for authentication and it worked. Then I switched back to the correct user & pass and I could send a message. Now I am using it with a secure connection too. Hence, in short, it is a bug in The Bat!. But I couldn't find the way it exactly behaves. I say this because after having one account working, I tried from the other I use with the same SMTP server, and which already had the correct authentication info... result, it failed. I then put it all to regular and 'use settings of Mail Retrieval'... it worked; everything back to TLS and specific settings, it still worked. There is a bug somewhere there, not detecting changes to MD5's flag until you move to POP settings and go forth back to specific details, or something like that. I hope you could understand what I tried to say. Anyhow, thanks for your help, after all I got it working now :) -- Best regards, Javier Marcet mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sex is hereditary.
