Memeo not showing

2004-06-18 Thread Richard Wakeford

Hello,

I have one folder where I have the memo showing permanently and this is
done with a custom folder view. I think it is only since the most recent
version of TB! but, when I open the folder, the Memo field is blank
until I actually click on the message header pane and then they all
suddenly pop up.

No big deal I know but it's a mini bug (well, I'm probably the only one
with the problem but it's still a bug for me) so I thought I should let
it be known!

When unpacked to the TB! images folder it uses the smiley technique to
show a picture of the user. Have a look at
http://www.Pcwize.com/thebat. You have to create an account and sign

2004-06-18 Thread Maxim Masiutin
Hello!

I like the idea of rogue smiles (but didn't submit my rogue yet)!! :-)

I would suggest the limitation on size for the smily image file of 7KB or 10KB, and
the size should be 120x144.

There is no rationale for the JPEG image of 64x86 pixels to be 39058 bytes.

I've got it figured. I did the following all using IrfanView.

First I trimmed it to the right shape and blew it back up to the
required dimensions. That didn't make it look any better nor did it
shrink the size, but it was a starting point.

Next, I saved it as a GIF to get the colours indexed. That only
reduced it to about 13kb.

Then I reloaded it and saved it as a new JPG and that reduced it to

Me too. I am not using the RTFV and I don't want to. But I also don't
want to necessarily see the images (or the smileys, come to think of
it). Others may want to see me - one case I know for sure -, so they

Valid point, said so myself. OTOH, if you don't want to read the
smileys/rogues messages, just skip or filter them. AFAIK, the list has
not a limit policy, meaning that for every rogues' message another
(perhaps more important) one cannot be transmitted. Like: Only 300
messages per week ...

Wish: Shortcut/menu option to change viewers

2004-06-18 Thread Dierk Haasis
Hello TBBETA Members!

I am not sure this does not already exist:

I'd like to have much easier access to alternative viewers in TB.
When I'm testing something, like the smileys/rogues recently, I'd
like to just hit a keyboard shortcut or go to a menu item (context
menu?) to change on the fly to the RTFV or back again to the PTV.

And this from a folder view (in this case the MT folder).

Now I have to hit the combo to maximise TB from the Tray, look for
the Preferences and change there - which isn't that easy with the MT
running over the title menu bars, as it is with my set-up.

Em, that was the point. That the only difference between a message
showing a Rogues Smiley and one that does not, is 3 bytes. Those three
bytes attributes to the : _ : that are different in my Rogues sig and
my non-Rogues sig.

I don't see where it was cheating if that was the exact point I was
trying to convey.

Technically, I didn't have to force people to use the : _ : in their
Rogues Smiley handle. I could have let them just use their normal sig
"name", and then there would be *absolutely* no difference whatsoever
in message size.

However, we've discovered it to be poor practice to not make the
Rogues Smiley handle unique (i.e. the whole (c) Copyright being
replaced by a coffee cup.)

Re: Rogues Smileys limited beta

2004-06-18 Thread Demon
Hello Leif,
I've downloaded the roques.zip and put all the files into the images
directory. But i am not seeing any pictures. Clearly, i have done
something wrong but despite all the messages around this item i don't
see where.
Can you or anyone else help me out.
Kind regards,
Gerrit
(Will put my picture into the library next week).

For instance, looking at my sig below you'll see ":Leif_Gregory:"
which if you've downloaded the Rogues Smileys images and .MSL file
would show up on your machine as my Rogues Image from the gallery.
