Re[3]: BUG IN BACKUP procedure: Re[2]: 3.61.07

2005-09-28 Thread Vili
Hello Goncalo,

I have 2 messages created with TB (messages I sent) simply stall
the TB's backup procedure for every TB! released since version
3.51.8 (or 3.51.10). At least 3.51.8 was the last version where I
was able to do a full backup of my message base without issues.

the thread (where I complaint mostly solo) is under the subject
Maintenance Centre Bug? and here is a mid: for the last message:
 mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
ASK I can confirm that the backup stalls when store external
ASK attachments in message body is selected.
ASK I can back up just fine with 3.51.10, but 3.60.07 and 3.61.07
ASK hang after only 6 percent. Everytime at the same point, in the
ASK same folder. Its a pity we don't have a detailed backup log for
ASK debugging purposes, therefore I haven't yet looked for any single
ASK specific message that make the backup hang (and I certainly don't
ASK intend to do that if its not absolutely neccessary, since that
ASK folder contains 700 messages).
Thanks for your confirmation. We're three now... anyone else?

I will test it and bug down for the specific mail, if I observe it.
Promise :))

Translation

2005-09-28 Thread Vili
Hello tbbeta,

If one of you use other interface than English: in new betas
(v3.61.x), the translator is not able to widen the buttons, if the
translation IS IMPOSSIBLE to fit on the buttons, even labels.

My question, request: PLEASE, check your v3.61.x beta, and look for
something like this on buttons, labels:
Some text|xx
where X is an 8-digit number.

That |xx used to tell TB! how to widen the button to be able
to fit the translation on that button. WE NEED this possibility on
Hungarian, but I can imagine, that German interface or any other, also
needs. If it is observed in other languages, I would like to force
Ritlabs to put back this useful feature...

See attach pic from the Hungarian Search window...

Thanks for your support.

Mnemonics

2005-09-28 Thread Maurice Snellen
Listmembers:

Is it just me or is there a decrease in mnemonic functionality in TB!?

From 3.61.05, I'm no longer able to use the underlined mnemonic in at
least the dialog for creating new folders. That is, the mnemonics for
the mailticker and message retension will not work in either English
or Dutch. Others such as the OK button work fine. This was an
unpleasant surprise as I regularly create new folders with almost
identical settings and was used to quickly keying to the correct
positions without using my mouse. Now I can no longer do that.

Also, and this has been going on for longer, the drop-downs in the
filter condition pane for both attribute and comparison method used to
have mnemonics allowing quick jumps to the desired options. They no
longer have them and I'm disappointed at this.

There also seems to be a movement towards either no mnemonics or
allowing duplicate mnemonics in menus although I'm not sure whether it
was TB! or some other program where I saw that, which makes navigating
menus more cumbersome. I hope this is not some kind of new Microsoft
UI design guideline.

NFS new filter name not updated immediately in list

2005-09-28 Thread Maurice Snellen
Listmembers:

When creating a new filter there are two things that annoy me:

1) After pressing Insert or Alt-Insert the cursor doesn't
automatically go to the 'Name' field and autoselects the name, like
what happens with creating new folders, that would be the logical
thing to do in my opinion.

2) Typing the name of the filter doesn't automatically update the 'New
folder' in the list as you type, in fact, this doesn't get updated
until after you click some other filter. This is counter-intuitive.

No, not here. The message in question is still in the Inbox.

I meant, that I have the unread mail in my Inbox, I delete it without
reading, but my Virtual Unread Folder still shows it.

Oh, I see. So you read it, but it does not change the read flag in the
VF. But the cause can be the same as at me :))

Problem is, it is not that reproducible. Sometimes happens, sometimes
not :(( I will try to find the root of the reproducibility.

 ...

[-] UI : Labels didn't repaint in the Backup Center

I'm not exactly sure what this means. However, I did a back-up using
beta .07 just before installing .08 and found apparent overwriting of
the folder names being stored and also overwriting of the information
on total HD space and HD freespace. This made the words and numbers
muddy and mostly unreadable.

Now I've just finished doing a backup using beta .08.
All letters and numbers are clear and readable as the storage of
folders progresses.

The arrangement of the information in the window looks clearer and
cleaner to me, also. Did you make a little more white space around the
sections?

Whatever, the effect is all so much more pleasant to the eye that I
sat here and watched the entire backup process, which took about 4
minutes to complete. (I have a myriad of folders and a ton of mail to
back up, being such a packrat.)

Anyway, thanks for this great improvement!

 ...

 [-] UI : columns don't stick changes

Fixed here. :thankyou:

And everything else is still running smoothly--the major activities,
at least: sending, receiving, filtering, and the like.

First I attempted to Reply, using selected text, by holding down

I got an External Exception error. When I clicked on OK, I got an AV

Clicking on OK cleared that.

So I tried doing a full quote, using the Reply icon.

This brought on a series of AVs with varying addresses, which I
finally escaped with the Task Manager. Here are the first two:

AV 009EB404 Read of 0040

followed, upon clicking OK, by
AV 009DC409 read of

and so on.

After I relaunched TB!, I set up this Reply to you doing a full quote

the menu for Reply.

I don't use Keyboard Shortcuts, so can't report on whether Reply works
okay with them.

Confirmed. I had to do it when Replying with selected text using F4. It
AV'd, I closed it with the task manager. Gave it another shot...it
worked a few times, but then suddenly F4 was opening a reply window with
no addresses, no text...all blank fields.

Back to .04 (last version where IMAP filtering was working).

I have 2 POP3 accounts--all I use. I'm running Pro, without OTFE

I'm viewing in the Folder View window, using Rich Text View.

My editor is MicroEd.

Just before I dropped back to beta v. 3.61.07, I was getting either an
AV or an External Exception with every function of TB! I tried:

Receive Mail (same AV as for Send and Close)
Send Mail
Close
Reply by whatever means

Write a new message was about all that would work without displaying
an AV. And then, on sending that faultless message, here without fail
was an AV with a Write of address, unlike the usual Read of

Reply-to-All quoting selected text

2005-09-28 Thread Mary Bull
Hello Everyone!

I have just submitted a BT report asking for Reply-to-All to work as
Reply does, when quoting selected text.

Here's the link, for those who would like to support it:

https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=5149

I think this flaw should have Bug status.

However, for any who may disagree, there's a long-standing BT Wish
that you might like to add a supporting note to:

IMAP - Reserve one connection for messages

2005-09-28 Thread Jonathan Angliss
Hi All,

I don't know if this issue was introduced in this beta, or previous
ones as I've not really been able to beta test too much recently.
There is an option in Accounts, IMAP Fine Tune that allows you to
specify more than one connection, and on top of that reserve one
connection for just messages. I have found that it does not seem to
be doing the job at all. In fact, it's doing the same thing all the
other connections are doing, instead of being reserved for fetching
messages.

- Open TB
- Go into Account, Properties, Mail Management, IMAP Fine Tune
- Enable multiple connections (I have 4 set)
- Enable option to reserve one connection for mail fetch
- Save
- Go into Options, Preferences, General
- Make sure the connection center is set to always show
- Close TB
- Open TB
- While TB is scanning for messages, select a message you've read
before and watch the connection center. You /should/ see the msg
connection fetch the message you selected, but instead you can watch
it going through all the folders.

This might not be an issue for a small folder count as it happens so
quickly, however I have about 90 IMAP folders and it can easily be
seen.

Anybody else seeing this?

TB 3.61.08, Windows XP SP2 with all the updates.

3.61.08 some settings not sticky

2005-09-28 Thread Charlene Ferrara
Hello all,

I filter all msgs of TBBETA and TBOT to account folders and store
currently not more than 1000 msgs in each of them. So are my settings,
and this part works as designed. To to prevent old msgs from complete
deletion I filter them in another account folder as follows:
properties - deletion - move to folder xyz and also for alternative
deletion. These settings aren't sticky, after closing and re-opening the
dialogue I see that old msgs would be deleted and not filtered: the
options are reset to factory default.

Re: 3.61.08 some settings not sticky

Hello Charlene,

On Wed, 28 Sep 2005 you wrote in mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

CF I filter all msgs of TBBETA and TBOT to account folders and store
CF currently not more than 1000 msgs in each of them.

I do exactly the same as you except that I keep messages for 100 days
which gives between 3 and 4 thousand messages. )For anyone who has more
than that I filter out lots of messages relating to IMAP, PGP and other
subjects which don't interest me).

CF To to prevent old msgs from complete deletion I filter them in
CF another account folder as follows: properties - deletion - move to
CF folder xyz and also for alternative deletion.

Yes, same again. Actually I have another Archive account which is
normally closed so that TB! works that much faster as it doesn't have to
read an extra 50,000 messages.

CF These settings aren't sticky, after closing and re-opening the
CF dialogue I see that old msgs would be deleted and not filtered: the
CF options are reset to factory default.

I can fully confirm your findings and very worrying they are too.
Although the alternative delete method sticks to my settings but not the
ordinary delete. I've just rolled back as far as version 05 and it's the
same there.

Exporting as EML

2005-09-28 Thread Vili
Hello tbbeta,

If I try to export mails (Tools, Export messages, EML...) in EML
format into a directory that I exported already some mail in EML
before, TB! says: Cannot export...

Is it normal? I know it starts calling the files as 0001.EML
etc., but I would not expect any problem in this case...

I've just had a little play with this and, even though the ordinary
delete is selected, the messages still get moved to the Archive folder,
as long as it is selected but even though it's greyed out. I've had a
look through my Trash folder and there's not a sign of messages being
there that shouldn't be.
