Nope. Still grayed out. I tried several of my old POP accounts I no

By default, the templates won't work any more once you have starting
typing in the mail. That's because TB! can't know whether you want to
undo your typing, so it is safer to just leave it in peace.

In many cases, the tool tip text appears by itself. If it doesn't,
in the Layout pane select the item you have added to your toolbar and
hit the Rename button at the bottom and enter there the text you prefer.

I have the same problem, no matter what I do, what settings I have in the
editor I cannot seem to get MicroEd to stop deleting the ending spaces. I'm
hoping it's because of all of the new changes in MicroEd in the Alpha
releases.

As Marek says and as Maxim advised when he announced 4.0.0.9:

You just need to copy the new dll to your TB directory. No need to
replace or delete the existing one, you will need it if you revert to a
3.99.xx or previous version.

No, you can't do anything about it. The greeting, signature, etc., are
included in the message body by your 'reply template', and this template
will not change when you change accounts if you have already started
editing the message body. If you have not written or edited anything,
the reply template will change when you change the account.

I testet the Quick Template, but exactly CTRL-F4 is the function!

0,2 seconds work :-) This is the most quick handling of all E-Mail

Of course. I can also write my message in Word and copy-paste
it in TB. :-) But there's that internal editor to make it even
mire easy.
Sure, I can delete the CC field after a reply to all. But that's
a workaround. because there's no built-in option to directly
doing it. And sometimes I forget that and then a private mail goes
to a list. I happens here in this list too. Having a 'private
reply' option could better prevend that.

RITlabs developed and it's still improving, a fine, luxurious
emailprogram. Luxurious you can add by hand the date, but you
also can through 'Uitlities - Insert' add it, it's build-in.
There a a lot of nice, luxurious built-in options in TB, many of
them aren't really nessesary, most of it can be done quite easy
some other way.

I didn't ask for a workaround, ..grin..., I asked for a built-in
private reply option. If I knew how to add that to the official
wishlist of Ritlabs, I would have done that already.

1. I think it is an EXCELLENT idea... Disregard the reply-to field...

2. However, a Reply to all places the
From field to the To field
and
the Reply-to field to the CC field.

So, all you need is to delete the CC field. You can even use a quick
template to do it:
%CC=""

Hello MAU,

I think I should explain why.

- Using Customiser I tried 'moving' (or duplicating) the "Watch Replies
in" menu item in a higher level menu but, I don't know why, it will not
work properly from the 'new location' or if duplicated.

- Also, if I want to assign all messages in a thread to an Ignored
colour group, which is useful when browsing the message list (see
attached PNG with ignored threads and messages assigned to a light grey
colour group), I have to first expand the thread, select al messages in
it and then assign to colour group.

This is why I suggest the single menu entry:

> - Include a top level 'Ignore Thread' menu entry that would do what I
> now do with 'Specials/Watch Replies in/...Ignore' and at the same time

First of all, thank you for considering the possibility of implementing
this now.

Of course, I don't know the details of TB's code so I don't know what it
would exactly take to implement this function. But, since I have been
using this functionality (taking advantage of Watch Folders) for some
time, I think it should not be too difficult.

I will explain how I do it so you can consider my suggestion on how to
implement it.

First of all, see attached PNG.

The first thing I did to "start" my system was to create the *Ignore*
watch folder (Specials/Watch Replies in/New Watch Replies folder) from
the main menu or message list context. Since it actually is a 'watch
folder', in my case I selected to watch the two newsgroups that appear
in the PNG plus some other mailing lists not shown.

Now, when I am browsing a mailing list or newsgroup, if I want to Ignore
a thread, I right click on the first message of the thread and on the
context menu I select 'Specials/Watch Replies in/...Ignore'. This will
increment the unread count of the Ignore folder by the number of
messages in the ignored thread.

Once I have "ignored" one or more threads, I select the Ignore folder in
the folder tree and 'Mark all messages as read (Ctrl+M)'.

The next time I receive messages in these newsgroups or mailing lists,
those messages that are replies to one of the ignored threads will show
as Unread the the Ignore folder. I can then go to it and Ctrl+M before
going to each of the mailing list/newsgroups folder to browse and read
new messages.

It works very well. The only thing is that it takes more clicks than
would be desired. That is why I think perhaps an easy way to implement
it could be that:

- TB creates an Ignore watch folder by default. The user can then select
on its Properties which folders to watch. I thought that this Ignore
folder could even be transparent (not seen) to the user, but no, I think
it should be visible so you can go to it if you want to 'un-ignore' (just
like now you can stop 'watching') a thread.

- Include a top level 'Ignore Thread' menu entry that would do what I
now do with 'Specials/Watch Replies in/...Ignore' and at the same time mark
the thread as Read. It could also include assigning these message to a
default Ignored colour group.

Just an idea which, as I have written many times, I think should not be
too difficult to implement because you already have whatever code it
takes to set-up and manage 'watch folders'. And I may be wrong but I
don't think this implementation would require changing message index
format.

If you have read up to here, thanks for listening :)

Close TB! and restart it. See whether you can use the options now.

Yesterday, I had one account on which all the reply/forward options
were greyed out in the alpha version I am using. I don't know what
caused this, and other accounts worked fine. Closing and restarting
fixed the problem.

We'll see whether we will have some time for implementing this before
the 4.0 release. We still have many things to do for the
release...

Specifically, this one may require changing the message index format
whisch is scheduled for a post 4.0 version.

Hello Jens,

Are you familiar with Customiser? All this would take is the possibility
of selecting which 'tbuser.def' file to load and use. I'd say that is
very simple.

These two are not that easy to code...

It depending on politics, i would also say that Ritlabs should improve
old bugs and implement good new functions, because i see more and more
Users which switch to Thunderbird right this Time.

Not everything is a "must have" vor 4.0, but for 4.1 and following.

This is for loughing simple, i can't belive, this is not already done.
