Moin, Scott!

Why Can it not be fixed?

Of course it can be fixed, but *not* by RITLabs because it is not
their construction site.

Microsoft is the correct addressee: http://connect.microsoft.com/

Perhaps I should have asked if anyone else is having the same issue or would

At least on my PC it seems to be related to the picture download.
Renamed urlmgr.xml and deleted cache, accessed mail (HTML-part), allowed
every link: Mail disappeared a few times.

Closed TB!, purged cache, restarted TB!, accessed mail, picture download
started, mail disappeared, switching between text and html-part made the
html-part reappear and disappear as long as not every picture was loaded.
Afterwards the Mail didn't disappear any more.

Closed and restarted TB! without purging the cache, accessed mail, switched
to the html-part, the mail didn't disappear.

If you run a new copy of The Bat! with it (when no other thebat.exe is
running), it helps developers to trace the SMTP EHLO argument creation, it
writes to ex_log.txt
