5.0.8 and MailWasher
Hi, I check first all mails with MailWasher and then start TheBat from MailWasher. With version 5.0.8 it, however, doesn't start exactly. It will take some minutes that TheBat.exe starts, as I can see under processes but it didn't open full (it is like frozen). I have to close it using Strg+Alt+Del and to start it separately. Going back to 4.2.44.2 it works, as it should. But when starting this version I always get the information of a newer version 5.0.8. It's nerving, because this version has some problems! -- Best regards, Roland I use TheBat! v4.2.44.2 under Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 3! Hi, R It is a beta test group in order to FIND these issues so they R can be fixed. They have fixed a TON of issues and rewritten the program. And came up with _this_? I think once and for all it has been proven that at least one of the following is true: - You can't write a complex program using Delphi. - RIT can't maintain a program of TheBat's complexity. How long has it been from the last v4 to the first v5 release? A year? And this is supposed to be the result? Come on! R We all want the bat to keep getting better and better :) We don't want to write it ourselves. And RIT obviously can't handle the job either. -- MfG, Altomailto:a...@treadstone79.de The Bat! 4.2.18 Christmas Edition Windows 7 6.1 build 7601 Service Pack 1 pgpC2rU7e2MMN.pgp Description: PGP signature Current beta is 5.0.6.1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

And RIT obviously can't handle the job either. Maybe you better watch in your face attitude and stop knocking Ritlabs down like this. I believe at least half the world is full of people who know how things are not done...strangely there seem to be few great complex products actually done by those. Ritlabs do a terrific job, they still have a terrific program around. I believe that's why you are on this list, too. Yes, they have been concentrating on too much fancy stuff rather than to get existing stuff work right (IMAP, the HTML editor is still a joke). Yes, I have been doing my share of whining around for functional IMAP, for example. Yes, the guy who decided to ship this present V5 (what funny connotations does this have, hopefully the damage won't be as large) should get his bottom lit up, but none of that is a reason to present Ritlabs as a buch of high school janitors. Folder tree in Copy/Move messages to displays all folders closed (used to be: open state copies the folder tree)
Hello! Since the beta stage of V5, there seems to be a change in how the Copy/Move messages to dialog. In 4.2.42 the folders being open/closed used to copy their state in the main folder tree http://www.offline.cz/hostbits/tbbeta/tbbeta5_2011-03-01_muvfldrs01.jpg Version 5 though http://www.offline.cz/hostbits/tbbeta/tbbeta5_2011-03-01_muvfldrs02.jpg shows them all closed. On the screenshot you can see the difference between the folder tree and the dialog's one (my folder tree has all accounts and many folders open, in the dialog only the current account is open, everything else closed). Is this a feature (shorter initial view)? I hope not, because that would take from us the possibility to customize what's going to be open depending on the user's mode of use (typically, you'd have those folders you use most often open in the folder tree - it's a waste of time to have to open them all in the move dialog as well; and yes, I do use that dialog to actually move messages between accounts) Cheers -- Viktor Current beta is 5.0.6.1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Hi, VK Maybe you better watch in your face attitude and stop knocking Ritlabs VK down like this. Does it look to you that RIT would be up to the job? This is not an insult. It's an observation. VK Ritlabs do a terrific job, they still have a terrific program around. I see, that answeres the question. You obviously have a different expectation to software than me. My playing days are over.
