Nice to have the choice, but since you call it the System HTML viewer
would it be very difficult to make that the
viewer of the default browser (or is that simply impossible)?

As it is now, clicking a link opens the page in IE, whatever the default
browser is (which is not abnormal since one is
already using IE.

Pretty much impossible, since IE's HTML renderer is available as an
ActiveX control, while other browsers don't provide that (although it
shouldn't be too hard to integrate WebKit instead of IE, but the
WebKit library is between 20 and 40MB, depending on which options are

You definitely want to rename this since many do not use IE as
system's default browser /HTML viewer. I, for instance, use Opera as
default, Firefox and Chrome for testing and the occasional site not
working with Opera; IE is never used, I only maintain it for programs
relying on it, like Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Are you sure you don't have Goto next unread message with the SmartSpace

Personally I do not use the spacebar to page through the message (I use the

As Ritlabs staff seems was reduced to one and testers were left in the
dark here is how the things work.

IE comes in two parts, 1) IE browser (IExplorer.exe) and IE platform
(WebBrowser Control which can be used in Delphi, C++ and other
programming languages or simply mshtml.dll).

If system HTML viewer is choosen TB! 5.1 uses mshtml.dll to render
HTML *inline* in internal TB! window. This doesn't affect email links,
message.html files, all other *.html attached files which are still
opened with default system browser.

If I chose to use the MSIE

Is there some add-on I'm missing which would block all the adverts i
now see when I open HTML messages, but had been avoiding by using the
internal HTML browser, and using Chrome or Firefox, instead of having
MSIE open whenever I click a link in the default setup for the new
beta?

I am curious to hear from you how you see this post or if it is just

default browser (possibly IE of course, but not the case here).

US I cannot confirm this. In both cases the link is opened in my default
US browser which is Firefox, although IE 9 is installed and working
US correctly.

I have the same here, but Opera is my default browser with IE 9 also
installed.

Not really, though I wouldn't call a request for this feature
'complaining'.
