Re: 7.4.16.33
Hi Eddie, E> When under IMAP I compose an eMail, TB! creates many versions copies of that post as I proceed writing it. So each version copy shows actually the progress of composing that eMail. How interesting, I just noticed today the very same thing happening with Thunderbird under Ubuntu Linux connecting to an Office 365 Exchange Server via IMAP. I did not spend much time investigating yet, but I also noticed something like "Deleting 2 messages in the Drafts", Deleting 3 messages in the Drafts" showing up repeatedly in the Thunderbird's status bar while composing an email (most likely, the very same email I have now multiple copies of), which I could not understand then, but now seem related. I just found the following forum thread: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/2d5e81cd-95cb-490b-865c-8effed0e3a3c/outlook-2013-gmail-leads-to-many-messages-in-drafts-even-after-it-is-sent?forum=officeitpro So far I tend to think that the roots of the issues are more at the server and not so much at the client side of things. Couple more details: my The Bat! shows this IMAP Drafts folder as empty, but Outlook Web App does show those multiple copies; my Thunderbird is configured to use IMAP Drafts to save work-in-progress, but The Bat! is set to use its local Outbox. Unfortunately, I cannot see now how the IMAP Drafts folder is seen in Thunderbird at the moment :( E> ... all version copies are remaining in the folder and can not be deleted Which folder are your copies in? Re: 7.4.16.28
Hi Maxim, I have put together a crude script in Python to record The Bat!'s memory usage over time with psutil.Process().memory_info() [1] providing the data. I ran the script to retrieve the numbers in a loop 120 times every quarter of a second, with the first point corresponding to the launch of The Bat! The attached graphs (of WSET vs.points) represent three such runs: what I noticed to be fairy reproducible so far is that minimizing The Bat! to tray makes the memory usage drop all the way down to only few MB, and that switching folders and accounts looks like a ladder with increasing memory usage. It is seeing numbers like 70 MB made me think that the overall memory usage has grown a factor of 4-5 that I mentioned earlier. Granted, I never recorded memory usage of The Bat! before like I did now, but I think in the past by just glancing over at the Task Manager casually from time to time I never say numbers change much, staying around 12-15 MB. I guess I was wrong! I was recording other parameters provided by [1] too, but decided that WSET is the most useful metric to use here. I really need to learn more about what they all mean :) -Z. Re: imap: stuck when forwarding an email with a large attachment
Hey Ce, CY> ... When I forward an email with a large size attachment (>3M), the connection center is stuck at CY> the task of 'store a message', the status shows it is 'queued', but it won't move to next stage... I had a very similar issue quite regularly ever since I started using IMAP for one of my accounts (about two years ago). I no longer remember the exact words in the Connection Centre, but in essence everything would wait endlessly for a [just sent] message to be copied into the Sent folder. Trying to find a solution on the web, I realized that the same problem happens quite often to Thunderbird users too, and in one of their forums someone suggested to limit the number of concurrent connections to the IMAP server to just one as a solution. I tried doing the same in The Bat! and never had this problem since. In short, go to IMAP Fine-Tune under Mail management in your IMAP account properties, and uncheck Allow up to ## connections. Maybe having it set to one will work the same - logically, it should. See if that helps. Re: 5.0.22.6
Thank you for the answer, Maxim. >> The question remains: why using custom date format specified as 'MM/dd/yy' >> shows both date and time? MM> We can make an option (checkbox) to not add time to date, should we? It may MM> add complexity to an already big number of options. It looks like you already did - in 5.0.22.27 - hats off to you! I still don't quite understand why not using a custom format string to cover all possibilities, instead of cluttering the dialog with check boxes and such. ", dd, " replicates long, "M/d/" - short (both with no time), while "M/d/, hh:mm tt" would display short date with "12:19 AM" separated by a comma, and so on. Doing it this way will eliminate most of the controls on the dialog (and, quite likely, will simplify the logic in the code), providing more options at the same time. Such a string would need to be specified three times, provided the user will want to display this week's and today's messages differently, and that's all. But then again, I am sure you have reasons to do things the way you do it now. From my user's perspective - I am very happy with how things are in 5.0.22.27, so I should not be complaining! :) Now if only you could fix Replied and Forwarded flags being applied prematurely bug and fix the controls in Column settings! Re: 5.0.22.6
Hello Maxim, MM> What's new in 5.0.22.6 since 5.0.22.5: MM> [+] An option to specify time format for the message list in the Preferences dialog. Now the time format by default fits time format used in previous version of The Bat! The question remains: why using custom date format specified as 'MM/dd/yy' shows both date and time? Inability to hide time is a major downgrade from the old options to be able to "... display date and time using different formats for convenience of reading the message list" (quotation is from the old Date/Time Format dialog). By the way, 'Day, Month, Year, and Era Format Pictures' article on MSDN The Bat! opens on clicking Help in the new dialog says nothing about time - so why 'MM/dd/yy' ends up displaying time as well? Guys, I got a question about the new message list date system: how do I get only date (without any time at all) in the message list now? Not being able to do so would be a real bummer for me :( And it seems that the currently available option "Use custom date" should let me do so, but even if I have only 'MM/dd/yy' in the input field, I still get the time displayed. Very disappointing, and inconsistent! Thanks, -Zann P.S. It seems that you are looking at the message list part of the code: could you please look at the broken column settings and broken flags (replied, forwarded, etc.), too? Thanks again. Re: 5.0.18.7
Dear Maxim, Thank you for fixing the width of the Message Flags column and its icon alignment in one of the recent betas. Could you please also look at the two quite annoying issues I am having with message list columns? 1) When replying (or forwarding), the Replied (Forwarded) flags are being applied to the icons in the list with the first auto-save (triggered by any changes in the editor), and not when the new message is actually sent. Closing the editor without sending the new message does not remove the flag, and the received message stays flagged as replied (or forwarded) erroneously. 2) Folder specific column settings are troublesome: (a) the widths are being saved only when adjusted by dragging. Changing numbers in the View Mode Setup invoked by right-clicking on the column headers and choosing Message List Columns does have an immediate effect (after OK), but is not saved; (b) if column widths were changed by dragging, the numbers in the View Mode Setup do not reflect the change; (c) Copy Column Settings To invoked by right-clicking on a folder does not seem to do anything at all. The controls in the Message List Columns dialog seem to be broken only under x64 Windows 7, but the "sticky" flag occurs under x86 Windows XP as well. Hello, 1) When replying (or forwarding), the Replied (Forwarded) flags are being applied to the icons in the list with the first auto-save (triggered by any changes in the editor), and not when the new message is actually sent. The Bat! version 5.0.14.2, but I am pretty sure both issues were present since the very first v5.x release. 1) happens both on 64-bit Windows 7 and x86 XP, but 2) seems to be broken only under x64 Windows 7. Account tree Name width
Hi folks, Just tried new beta series with .17 - and one thing drives me insane: expanding/collapsing folders and sub-folders in the account tree changes width of the Name column. This is s weird ... Another thing that makes no sense in the account tree pane is the vertical scrollbar - why on earth does it have to include the column headers up on the top? Re[2]: Plugin keeps disappearing
Hi all, Still don't know what the cause of the problem was, but TBPlugin.INI got stuck somehow (thanks for pointing at it, Roelof) - it was being "accessed" and "modified" by TB! every time I tried adding new plugin, but in reality its content never changed - it kept showing old info on BayesIt (which is also rather strange, because I removed BayesIt first, and it was gone from the list of installed plugins). In any case, manually deleting TBPlugin.INI file, starting TB! and adding desired plugin again helped, and things seem to be back in order :) Thanks all! -- Zann [EMAIL PROTECTED] Current beta is 3.0.9.2 Pre-beta | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
Plugin keeps disappearing
Hi folks, I got a strange problem - I cant keep Achim's Bayes Filter Plugin installed: every time I restart TB! it forgets about it (nothing happens and it's missing from both Anti-spam and Plug-Ins lists under Options) and I have to add it manually again. Once added it seems to work just fine ... but why would TB! forget that the plugin was already installed? I'm don't have much experience with TB! plugins, I used to use BayesIt for a while (and with no problems), but it's been missing so much of obvious spam, that I decided to try Achim's one. Where does TB! usually keep its records about installed plugins? I looked through the obvious places in the registry, but found no related keys ... I'd appreciate any ideas. Pasting Win-1251 into Win-1251
Hi folks, Not sure at what version this problem showed up, but right now I'm having it with latest 2.05 beta 16. Sorry if it is a known issue and had been discussed already, I did not follow the list very closely last few months. Open new message, change encoding to Windows-1251 and paste Windows-1251 encoded string from the clipboard. All I get is garbage. Same happens if Windows-1251 was set as default encoding; same happens if it is set by the message you're replying to, etc. The only way to get around it I figured so far, is to create a new message, change encoding to None, paste your text, and then change it back - and do so every time before pasting again. Annoying as hell :( Any ideas? Or is it just me? :) Windows XP, US locale, everything is default, as far as languages and encodings go, at least. -- -Zann [EMAIL PROTECTED] Current beta is 2.05 beta 16 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
