I have done like you suggest.

With 4.2.18, from the MSI: 5 s to launch TB !
With 4.2.19: 9 s (it is not 3x faster, but only about 2x).

I  have  tried  3x  for  each  version;  the antivirus  (F-Secure Internet
Security 2010) was turned off.

The folder tree loads _very_ quickly. Getting the message counters
is somewhat faster than in previous versions.

Not  being  a  Speed  Machine,  I  don't  think this is a very slow computer, 
but I do have a lot of
folders and yes, I can see the difference.

As for the data loss: where can I find my message base?  :-)   (*)

Not  true:  on my computer (Win7, 4 GB ram, quad-core AMD Atlon II X4
