IMAP - Auto-filtering

2006-02-07 Thread Stuart Cuddy
Hello tbbeta,

  Does Account/Properties/Mail Management/IMAP Finetune/Auto-filtering
do anything? It seems to filter messages regardless whether its
checked or not. Or is it meant to do something else?

IMAP Auto Filtering...

2004-11-18 Thread Chris Weaven
...has just stopped working for me, for no apparent reason! :-(

I have 'Auto-Filtering' enabled and 'Use Precise Counters' enabled
aswell.

It was working fine up until yesterday when it all of a sudden decided
to stop working and I can't work out why, as I've not changed anything.

If I manually re-filter, is say's the messages are filtered, as does the
log, but the messages don't actually move anywhere!?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Lucky enough, filtering is still working on my home PC (at the moment),
so I'm filtering messages there.

If it is not checked filtering is performed on folder selection or
synchronization... In other case TB! tries to refilter folder when
finds new messages where. It is usefull if synchronization is disabled
and IMAP is used in only 'online' mode.

For common filters (marking spam as read in all my spam folders) I find
that it is not trigged all the time. Sometimes I need to select the
folder in order for the filter to trigger. Is there a problem with
common filters and automatic filtering?

I had experienced this once and it turned out that I did change
something. I had changed the name of my account and the filters hadn't
been autoupdated to reflect the change. Did you make any trivial changes
as this?
How does manual filtering go for you? Does that work?

Did you write to the lists about this problem, as I think I remember it.

How embarrassing, that's what's happened here, I renamed one of my
accounts and the filters didn't update to reflect this change. Maybe
this should be tweaked so it is updated!?

Thanks for jogging my memory Allie ;-)

Yes. I did. I had done just what you did. I had reported on two
occasions that my filters had stopped working. I was blaming IMAP
bugginess, rather than something else.
It wasn't until I tried a manual filter operation that I realized the
filters were being triggered but the messages not moved.

I remember this autoadjustment occuring with the older filtering system.
This is why I hadn't even checked the filters after making the account
name change. TB!'s automation can make you complacent at times. Only
this time, the automation is broken.
Thanks for jogging my memory Allie ;-)

OK, this explains why I'm not seeing the results I expected.
Thanks for the explanation and good to see you back on the list.
