Come to think of it: Crash whilst doing nothing seems to be some kind of

Only if you don't know why this variable was introduced in the first
place... and I don't know.

Problems with labels

Title: Problems with labels

Hello Maxim,

I don't know wether it started in 5.3.2.1 (I did not use that one) or 5.3.2.2,
but apparently new labels are "automatically" being created and added to the
list of available labels.

This is what I got to see:

I do not know wether this has to do with the sender (gandalfmeister) or the fact that
both messages had no subject.

Did anyone see anything similar?

I do.
Yes, gandalfmeister created new Message Tags on my system, too. Which gives
me a bit of an uneasy feeling ...
Especially since there is no possibility in The Bat to delete message tags.
You can remove them from a mail, but you can't delete them from the
Tag-library.

Actually, there is, though not a nice way and not provided by RitLabs.

This is MAU 'speaking':

,--/ \
| In a message of the thread mentioned above I said I had found a way of
| deleting them. It works, but it has some 'buts' and 'ifs'.
|
| There is a file named 'TagStat.TXT' in MAIL directory that lists all
| Tags that have been defined or created. Each tag shows some long numbers
| that I assume somehow refer to the message(s) that have that tag
| assigned.
|
| If you exit TB and open that file with a text editor, you may delete a
| Tag (line) or all of them. Or, if you want to delete all tags, you may
| just delete the file.
|
| BUT, that deleting method only works IF:
|
| a) The tag(s) you are deleting is(are) not currently assigned to any
| message.
|
| b) The tag(s) you are deleting is(are) not currently being used in the
| filter of any VF. I have not tried with filters in S.O., but I expect
| the same.
|
| If a) or b) are not true for any tags, TB will make them appear again in
| TagStat.TXT file, even re-creating it if it had been deleted.
|
| I don't know if there are any plans for further development of this Tags
| feature but, for me, and sorry to say so, the current implementation is
| neither useful nor usable.
`-8---

Strangely enough the two gandalfmeister-mails did not show up in a the
virtual folder where I can see all the labelled mails.

When deleting the tags from TagStat.TXT I saw that both automaticcaly created
tags only had three zero's instead of longer numbers after them:

I hope this can help the developers if/when they try to cure this bug.

Well this is interesting! I haven't used message tags myself - and so I don't
deliberately insert anything malicious to autocreate them at your end.
At my end I have a new (near vanilla) TB! install. I just have 1 plugin
(AntispamSniper) - and nothing else. I'm Win7 Home 64 bit OS

Could it be that this is related to empty subject lines? (mentioned previously)

I have no tags in my system - but then again the dist list doesn't send me my
own messages either
