Seriously, the new icons may not be to everybody's taste - I, BTW, like them for various reasons - but they have been upgraded towards the current trend of semi-transparent, pastel-coloured three-dimensional, laid-back buttons. They aren't as bad as Windows XP's default ones, nor like PowerQuest's set. They look more subdued without sacrificing informational status - especially the released ones, which brought back a bit of colour. To sum up: You can satisfy some of the people all of the time, you can satisfy all the people some of the time.
