Okay. Great! I just got a "notification" of each of your added notes.

There are *no* dumb questions. That's one of the mottoes of the TB!
lists.

Do you have an account at Bug Track? If you do, click on the URL
above, log in, scroll down, and type your agreement into the space
labeled "Add Note" and then click on the button centered at the bottom
of the space, which is also labeled "Add Note."

If you don't have an account at Bug Track, go here:

https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/main_page.php

Click on sign up for a new account and fill in the form. If you're
like me, you should write the user name and password that you select
down somewhere. I'm very forgetful about such things.

The password can't be recovered if you forget it. One of the RitLabs
people will have to help you make a completely new account. At least,
that's what happened to me, and for a long time I couldn't write
anything at BT, until one of them had time to fix it for me.

Well, maybe more info than you need. Just thought I'd try to cover all
the bases.

Once you have an account, then go to the page (several ways to do
that, including using the first URL above) with the "Insert Quick
Template" Wish and write your note in the Add Note space.

Thank you so much for staying with me on this! :)

I see. Well, however it ends up, information about it will have to go
into a Help file down the road, anyway. At least, the problem has been
raised.

I saw. I'm monitoring that Issue. I didn't know enough to know how to

It is not that I don't disagree. I'll have to think about it because
it depends where you place the emphasis on consistency. Should it be
consistent on the insert menu 2 levels down, or consistent that insert

Agreed. Whatever happens, happens, and then we have the task before us
to adjust and to cope.

All the same, there's some evidence that for human beings being
optimistic pays off better than being pessimistic.

I am not inclined to write a Wish on the "Create a Quick Template"
ambiguity in Utilities. I *have* put one up about "Insert a Quick
Template."

Perhaps I'll get that. Or not. If not, I have already, personally,

know where to find my QTs.

I appreciate your writing to this thread very much, Dennis. :)

in another thread about "sprinkling fairy dust" gave me the impression
you didn't have an account.

AV> ...although I will need to figure out how to stop
AY> getting all of the subsequent email. :-)

Procedures may have changed, although perhaps I may have misunderstood
you again. When I write a bug note or wish, I do get follow-up
reports. But when I simply write a supporting note, I don't get
reports unless I separately push the "Monitor" button on the Issue
page.

Well, after a good night's sleep, I'm ready to compose a request to
put "Insert Quick Template" as a separate item on the drop-down
Utilities menu of "Edit Mail Message," rather than as a sub-menu of
Utilities/Insert.

I won't have to include the "Create a Quick Template" ambiguity, since
making clear how to activate that choice is a separate need which will
probably get addressed in the Help file.

The Bat! is so good, just as it stands, but all of us can think of so
many ways to make it better. Reminds me of living in a beloved old

I thought, since he was writing a message, that Richard probably
wanted the "inserting" option. However, I put the place for both
functions in my Reply to him. So far as I can recall, Create a Quick
Template has always been under Options on the Main menu, where
Preferences is also available. You can also "Edit Quick Templates"
from a box-button in Account/Properties.

I agree with you that the grayed-out command should be available.

AY> And even if the command was just worded in a confusing fashion and

I don't remember seeing it there, before--I always went to Options on
the main menu. What I wanted was the Edit Mail Message window
Utilities/Quick Template to stay as before. However, Create a Quick
Template could have been there also and I forgot or didn't notice it.

I'll wait until I hear from a few others and then I may put a Wish on
BT.

Avi, I wish you'd go there and create an Account, so you can write
supporting notes. The BT main page is at

https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/main_page.php

It's not hard to create an account. One just has to be careful about
remembering one's User Name and Password. (I actually think that I may
be getting better at that kind of stuff!)

If I write it, I'll ask to have both QT functions available on the
Utilities main menu in Edit Mail Message window--both "create" and
"insert."

Okay, but inserting an existing Quick Template and *creating* a Quick
Template are two different things. When I see the command to "Create a
Quick Template", I think that a Quick Template dialog box is going to
open up and use the message I am currently editing (and from which I
accessed this command) as a starting point for a new Quick Template.
That could be quite useful. But this command is mysteriously grayed
out.

And even if the command was just worded in a confusing fashion and
then moved to a new location, why then was this "old" command left
behind on the Utilities menu?

I really did want to post and complain when I first got frustrated. I
was getting a lot of mail from people wanting the pcwize addresses
(Roguemoticons, Smileys) at the time, and I have QTs for those as well
as a long list of others.

Having the menu as a submenu of Inserts is a problem for me--I'm a
mouse person, and holding the submenu in focus takes some doing!

Let's see what the others think. Maybe I'll write a Wish on Bugtrack
to have Quick Templates have a place of its own on the Utilities menu,
as it did in "the old days." :)

Would you put a supporting note if I did?

As Mary says it is now under "Utilities/Insert/Quick Templates". As far
as I can recall, this option was moved a few betas ago.

Greyed-out here too. Use the shortcut ++Q.

Same here in 3.0.2.4. There is probably a logical explanation, but it
does seem rather bizarre. I had a quick look at the help file and did
not find any reference to this command (although it might be hidden
away somewhere that I did not notice).

Utilities/Insert/Quick Templates (and it drove me crazy for awhile
before I found it through trial-and-error. :) )

To create one, Options/Quick Templates in the Main TB! menu.
