testing other digest algo

2005-07-21 Thread Henk M. de Bruijn
This message has been signed pgp/mime. In this case I have used digest
algo RIPEMD160.

Till now it has not been possible to verify this message with the Bat!
when this digest algo had been used.

PGP/MIME, digest conflict

2005-08-11 Thread Peter Meyns
I still get the infamous "signature digest conflict in message" error
in The Bat! 3.51.10 when I try to verify a PGP/MIME signed message
from, let's say, Thunderbird.

I think it relates to https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4329

Thanks. Back to SHA1. GPGrelay verifies ok that's why I thought it had

What LDAP server are you using? I have very little luck
verifying with pgp.surfnet.nl. I am beginning to wonder if
there may be a bug in the GnuPG software.

For your signature I get:

gpg: Signature made 07/22/05 01:05:41 CDT using DSA key ID BD05451D
gpg: requesting key BD05451D from ldap server pgp.surfnet.nl

Oops, realised that just changing to PGP does not change from SHA1 to

This one won't be MIME signed, but inline using GPGshell, because The

Good day, Vladimir.

ViP> This is a PGP encrypted message.

Undecriptable with PGP8.1.

And PGP signature check using PGP8.1 always set message to "Fail".
I receive digest conflict only with GPG.

No, fetch is regular POP3.
I found a FAQ point at provider's website, so probably it is to avoid
overload on their server...

My case: I have 5 accounts in softhome.net . When I launch The Bat!
and start a send & receive from the 5 accounts simultaneously, I
usually receive that blank error message in one or two of the
accounts. Then I retry and they work ok. I guess it's a bug in the pop
server triggered by several simultaneous connections from the same
client. Maybe you have the same problem?

Unfortunately TB! doesn't give me a complete log of the pop3
conversation, and so I can't really know the details. And I am unable
to reproduce the bug by telnet, probably because I'm not fast enough to
login by hand in 5 windows at the same time :)

No. However, I connect to MDaemon my local mail server.

Do you have a broadband connection? If not then it's likely that
there are problems with making 5 connections simultaneously, most
likely timeouts.

I suggest varying the time the accounts are set to retrieve mail in
a way that they don't so so simultaneously.

I see. So it's not TB! as I thought.

You could go half way. Just enable the important account to be
checked on startup and let the others be checked at the next
autoretrieval interval. The delay won't really matter since you'll
be busy attending to the mail that came in through your main
accounts. :)

StartupDelayer (freeware) works on both Win9x and Win2K/XP (I've only
used it on Win9x though) allows absolute control of how long between
each startup task's starting. Assuming you can set it up so separate
tasks get used, you can have your startup get everything else launched
and then wait any period you want before kicking off the remaing tasks
which could check the mail accounts that cause problems when done all at
once. (Google for StartupDelayer)

The only way I found to achieve this advertently would be in the properties
of the Sent folder:

[x] Maximum number of stored messages is 0

Perhaps it is accidentally checked or accidentally set to zero?

If not, why not post your question to TBUDL or TBTech? There are many more

The fact that "no filter seems to do it" doesn't necessarily mean they
don't. If you have any Outgoing filter, temporarily uncheck the Active
tick box or set them to Only Manual. Then send a message and if goes
to the Sent Mail folder... you have a "broken" filter.

Hi,

Using TB! 1.62b05 (Windows XP Pro), I find that if a new message gets
launched via a "mailto" link/URL, the compose window isn't respecting
the "new message" template I have set up. In other words, I get no
signature, or any of the other components I have specified in that
template. Is this a bug or intended functionality? Thanks!

Mark

This just means that you haven't set "This account is the default
for mailto:"; in the account properties.

Ah, but I have, and just verified that it is checked. It's using the
right account, but again, no template.

In that case ... I pass. It's always worked right for me . It
uses the account default templates, just as I would expect.

--- Begin Message ---

Hi all beta listeners,

I asked this a couple of months ago on this list, but got no solution. Now
summer's over and vacationers should be back, so I ask again:

,- [ mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ]
| From my messages to TBUDL and TBOT of last April:
|

| | the problem I have here
| | with the favourites picker icon next to the new message button. It shows
| | no response any more since 1.60... To illustrate what I mean I've
| | attached a little .png.
| `-
|
| I'll attach the .png again.
|
| In addition and possibly related I cannot right click the To: field of a
| new message and paste an address from clipboard. Using the mouse will
| freeze it for a couple of seconds and doesn't achieve anything.
|
| Well, as long as ctrl+V works, I won't complain too loudly - it suffices my
| needs - but the mouse part should work as well, shouldn't it?
|
| Both problems still persist.
`-

Both problems /still/ persist.

I want to add that today I tried it back to version 153bis, the oldest I
have for testing, and it is the same. So it looks like it is nothing with
TB!, but with my system or settings... I'd still like to know what causes
this. *s*

Any ideas?

Dear friends on TBUDL, TBBETA, and TBTECH,

(Sorry to those on several lists for cross-posting.)

It's taken much longer than I expected, but I've finally finished my study
in the States and come back to Taiwan. After more or less settling down in
my new life (it took a while to get used to the traffic here), it's about
time to visit my old friends in cyberspace.

How's everyone? I miss you all!

My new job is extremely demanding, so I might not be able to be as active as
I used to be or as I want to. Still, I look forward to talking to you all.

Well, here I get for a self-signed POP-SSL server:

2002-10-17, 00:16:37: FETCH - Certificate S/N: 0, algorithm: RSA (1024 bits), issued
from 17 Jun 2002 to 17 Jun 2003, for 1 host(s): localhost.

So the error is quite clear. What is NOT clear, however, is how I can

Create a new item in you 'Trusted Root CA' address book and import the
public key of that server into this item as 'Certificate'. This should
work, _IF_ the server name you have in you connections settings is
identically to the one in certificate as 'CN'.

As I've read something about 'localhost' in the rest of log output you
sent it could be TB! refuses (after having the Trusted Root item) to
fetch mail because the names (CN vs. hostname-to-fetch-mail-from)
mismatch.

P.S.: No need to send the mail directly to me if posting on list. I'm
reading the list :-)

I wouldn't have thought so. As a programmer I can't think of any

AV at address 006BB73A in module 'thebat.exe'. Read of address 0098.

I'm nearly always answers no to this question so I don't know how often
this happens. I tried sending myself a message with a request for
reading confirmation, confirmed the reading but nothing strange
happened, so it might have been just a one time problem.

Can anyone confirm this? (maybe not by a reading confirmation :-)

One addition:
I found this issue, when I write a blank new mail as well, and if it
ends with a blank line. Of course this issue comes up only sometimes.
(eg. at this mail it doesn't happen)

Guys,

I use 1.62/Beta5, and found a (possible) bug.
If I'm writing a new mail (or reply/fwd), and hit Ctrl-End, SOMETIMES
it scrolls the last line to the top of the window, however it should
leave the last line at the bottom.
Have You seen this issue?
thx

Tamas

Can't start new beta confirmed here too. I have attached an image of

This works! I only had 2 xml files. I renamed 'batlogo.xml' to
'old_batlogo.old_xml' and left 'tbuser.def' in TB directory. I started
TB from an icon on my desktop rather than the start menu. Afterward I
was able to start TB from the 'start' menu. :-)

Hello Maxim,

A reminder of what Maxim Masiutin on TBBETA typed on:

MM> Could you please also delete all XML files from The Bat! directory, except
batskin.xml !?

Why would some people need to delete user and xml files?

The reason I ask is I deleted nothing, I just copied all files from the
rar, overwrote the existing files and so far it's working as well as ever
 here.

Well, almost as well as ever, I still can't shut my PC down unless I close
TB first. And if I close the lid and it hibernates with TB still running
it's a hell of a job to get this laptop running again.

Not sure if this reflects a change in TB, but all of a sudden today,
the spam filter is doing a good job of catching spam. I sure am glad.
