This can happen when the "rug gets pulled" from under TB's feet -
when folder or drive letters are changed in an unstructured way. It
can also happen after a system crash.

That doesn't surprise me (even though I'm having to answer this
posting as it was posted - upside down!)

This is always caused by importing Birth Dates from an OE address
book. You have to scrap the address book and re-import, this time
without birth dates.

This is described fairly well in the help file. Basically there are
3 steps. Steps 1 and 3 are carried out on the system to be updated.
Step 2 happens on the system providing the fresh meat.

J> (not asked then, but would like to know why this would be better
J> than just sync'ing the files with MS file sync)

Because it does a data level merge in a way that a file synch
cannot. In fact, a file synch could end up doing more harm than
good.

J> ** Also, how does one use/get to "The Bat! User's Discussion List
J> (TBUDL)". When I click on this I get:

J> MS msg: COuld not perform this operation because the default mail

To fix the "not properly installed", go into your IE options, go to
the programs tab, select OE as your default client, click apply,
select TB as your default client, click apply, and now it should all
work as it should.

J> IN addition to above, do you have a PDF version of the "BAT
J> Online Reference"?

Can't help you there.

Help to new user....PLEASE

2003-03-05 Thread JRS2
Hi, I am a new user, and how I am not sounding like a whiner in the
following. In addition to the problems listed below, it appears that
everything has been resetin addition to the address book being
lost, the templates I played with and filters I set up are gone.

I would appreciate any guidance as the "INFO" source does not seem to
be the vehicle to use. While this may be a great product and, in the
long term these list very valuable, for a new user experiencing
problems, so direct response would be helpful

Is my impression wrong, or do you guys not respond to any direct
request.if this is the case, I may want my money back, in spite of
how good this program looked.

Well the start up problem has gone away.BUT WITH IT WENT ALL OF MY
PERSONAL ADDRESS BOOK entries. Is there anyway to recover this or do
I have to go back and recreate them againand reorg, change,
etc.lots of hours of workand still fear that they will be lost
again.

AnywayI WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE A RESPONSE.

OK.I'm registered..I hope that means I can get some support.
I sent 2 messages in the last 2 days & have not gotten any reply. Now
I have a real problem.

When I start Up I get the following box:

Reads: The Bat! X Invalid argument to date encode.

Any Idea what is causing this and how to fix it?

Stefan published them on January, 31st, 2002 on TBBETA.

Subject: BAV plug-in source

Albeit it's Delphi source a competente developer (team) should be able
to adapt it to other languages.

If somebody needs the sample source Stefan provided:

The mail in list archive contains only the message text

Hello Januk,

I have actually deleted the whole BCC %IF line. It has no sense on a
reply template.

You are darn right! Sorry about that. I was confused because the
quotations marks are stripped by TB when displaying in the header
pane.

I will try it later. But anyhow, now that I know that I am not
"introducing" the quotation marks in the reply, it is not "so
important".

Thanks for your help. Great macros, yes sir! :-)
