The problem is comprehension of public key encryption technology :-).
let's see if I can help...

RC If I send a mail signed

This is done using your private key/certificate. It is verified by
someone who has access to your public key/certificate. The public
key/certificate is actually encapsulated in the signature by TB on
signing a message.

RC and encrypted to others,

This must be done using *their* public key/certificate. If you don't
have that, you can't encrypt to them. Don't forget to encrypt to your
own key too otherwise you'll never be able to decrypt your copy of the
message.

RC how can others dencrype it to view the content.

They decrypt it with their *private* key/certificate (to which their
*public* key/certificate is the bookend).

Hello Roy,

Monday, July 1, 2002, 8:05:32 AM, you wrote:

I think you have to fully understand first how the certification/encription
with the public keys works.
Someone answered your questions, but I really suggest you to get a paper (or
a webpage) witha full explanation of the dual-key encription (AKA Public
Key).

In any case, you should export the publick key (ONLY THE PUBLIC KEY!!!) of
the keypair you have received and spread as much as possible among your
friends and contacts. But KEEP THE SECRECT KEY and do not distribute it!!!

In a nutshell, you have received a pair of key: if you encript a message
using one of the key, you can only decript it using the OTHER key, that's the
fundamental feature of the algorythm.

Hello Luigi,

no, I just use TB's OpenPGP command item in menu to generate my keys,
so I dont know where is the pgp program and how to use it.

why not TB add a similar command item in menu to realize it as it has
had a command item in menu which to import keys.

Which ever version of PGP you use, it is a function of the key manager
to export keys because, unlike importing where you have a single key
that is being imported, exporting involves selecting a key to export
first.

If you are using the built-in 2.6 compatible RSA key only OpenPGP (not
really man enough compared to the likes of GnuPG, PGPckt and
PGPFreeWare, but very accessible) then you can use the key manager
that goes with it and is available from the OpenPGP menu options.

Re[4]: where to get a S/MIME certification??

2002-06-30 Thread Roy Chen

I have installed it. but I have some question that:

I use [EMAIL PROTECTED] to apply a certification and intalled it. but it
seems I can only use it to write to [EMAIL PROTECTED] only which means I can
only use S/MIME to write to myself. When I write to other address, it
will report absect key pair.

So who can tell me, after I installed it, how to use it? If I send a
mail signed and encrypted to others, how can others dencrype it to
view the content.
