Despatch mail on server query

2002-03-18 Thread John Phillips

Hello fellow Bat! fans.

I have two isp accounts.

Is there a way I can despatch mail on both servers at the same time; i.e. first
isp on top of list, followed by next isp (followed by next, etc.)??

Suggestion also:- a la "Mail Washer", it would be nice to be able to bounce the
messages back to spammers with a false "unknown address", or whatever it is in
bounced e-mails.

not usually a microsoft defender, but when things don't work on xp,
don't blame xp. there has been plenty of time for vendors to catch up
if they are interested in their user base.

AtGuard, version 3.2 also works wonderfully on W2k, blocking anything
and everything you don't want, going or coming. It does *not* work
on XP, however, which is another reason I don't like XP. :)

I'll do my best to help. What gave me a good start are the FAQ pages
provided by the support list run on yahoo groups. It's a big and busy
list so though I am subscribed I have disabled receiving both messages
and digests. I'd go to the FAQ first, since you'll definitely need a
helper if you have no networking background (don't worry, I didn't
either when I started using it).

Here are the links to the user group and FAQ pages which I think, you
need to subscribe to the user group to access.

User group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/keriofirewall/

FAQ:
http://www.tpffaq.com/cgi-bin/faqmanager.cgi

You can send anymore on this to me off list since this is now off-topic.

Oh absolutely. Kerio Personal Firewall is just a firewall and nothing
else. You'll definitely need an antivirus program which I think is more
important than the firewall if you you aren't running any server
software and have your network bindings correctly set up.

Try to localize the problem.
Does it occur in every folder or only in one particular folder or only
in the message your editing. Or does it occur in other programs too.

If it's only in TB, you could try whether exiting and restarting TB
helps.

How about filtering on the developers name or e-mail address and have it
move the message to the mailing lists folder and also park it at the
same time as a filter action? Just place this filter above the one you
created for the general list messages.

The exact situation is this: I have mailing list messages filtered
into individual folders. One of those folders is for mail pertaining

ones from one of the developers, announcing the release of a new Beta

Well, I didn't smell right for nothing. I had the same problem as well
as others and eventually had to uninstall, not disable, ZoneAlarm for
the problem to go away. First the problem was just a matter of
restarting TB!, then I began having problems with my internet connection
requiring a reboot to fix. I blamed Win2k for a long time. Others have
had identical problems, others have not. I don't know why some have
problems and others don't.

I was just about to say that I bet you ran Win2k and checked your
signature only to confirm this.

There are many other fine Firewalls out there to choose from. I
personally use Tiny Personal Firewall which is rock solid on Win2k
though it requires more user input to properly configure. It's now
called Kerio Personal Firewall and is still free for
personal use. Another is Sygate Personal Firewall which AFAIK is also
free for personal use.

Not in that sequence.

You can only automatically apply filters to other folders apart from the
inbox, if the filters are 'replied' or 'read' message filters.

Is it possible to do it in another sequence. Do messages from this
particular sender go to other folders?

Filtering unread from other than Inbox

2002-03-18 Thread Joseph N.

Is it possible to automatically filter unread messages from a folder
other than the Inbox? I would like my mail distributed, but would
then like automatically to park all unread messages in a certain

Arrow icons

2002-03-18 Thread Joseph N.

Whether my messages are threaded or not, and whether they ascend or
descend by creation date, there seems to be no way for me to start
with the first (top) message in my list and then proceed through them
by clicking the arrow icons. I can, sometimes, start at the bottom of
the list and click the "back" icon to proceed backward, but for some
reason even then I cannot start at the top and go straight down from
within the viewer by click those icons. It's as if there is some
obscure logic they follow, which I just cannot grasp. Am I alone in
experiencing this? Is it an artifice of the way my messages are
arranged in my inboxes?

AFAIK, no. TB! would have to be able to examine the complete message
source including the attachment blocks to do this. Currently, TB!
doesn't do this.

I've never really come across this ability either. Most filtering
systems that can deal with attachments will do things with attachments
non-specifically as TB! will.

Is there nothing else common to these messages other than the
attachments.

that could be one explanation, since you do encounter this newly.

Another problem could be one of those stupid modal windows, which are
still sometimes obstructed by TB!'s main window. One example being
the dial up dialogue if you have more than one account. I you cancel
the first - visible - dialogue, the next one can't be seen but
"freezes" the system. You have to hit again.

Maybe this hitting can help you, too.

Connection problems

2002-03-18 Thread Luc

Hi list,

Last few days, TB! is acting up: doesn't receive and send mail. I have
to shut it down and start it again to retrieve my mail. Same applies to
sending mail. Shutting TB down isn't easy also, it sometimes refuses
to shut down so that i have to use the ctrl + alt + delete trick.
I would guess my CC is acting up but i have it set to automatically.

Or is merely some problem connecting the servers?
