I see that the 'on the fly' transition still isn't so smooth. However,
with a restart, the local Sent folder will now be the one used. If you
still see another 'sent' folder, it's the one no longer in use. One
would normally just unsubscribe from it to get it out of view.

Can't find it. I have changed icons for other programs. It usually

I looked thru whole thing multiple times, and finally decided that
must be the spot. I unchecked the box I think you mean, then got
interrupted so wasn't around to watch the connection centre and see if
the new sent folder it make is local or remote. Only know that it's a
different sent folder than was created and used before I switched from
a local to remote sent mail in the first place.

The only way to do that seems to be to switch to using a local 'Sent'

I thought the wireless hot spots (i.e. the ones around the city in Sydney
and Melbourne, occasionally free in coffee shops, otherwise pay by credit
card) only allowed http connections.

I could be wrong, I only looked at it once, came to that conclusion and
thought I'd look at it later when I worked out how to tunnel pop and smtp

I am trying to send 4 rather large files. I discovered that this is
being greatly slowed because after the whole message gets sent to the
sender, it is getting sent again, to put it in the remote sent folder.
Usually I like my mail to go there, but for the next 3 files I'd like
to switch.

Problem is that I don't seem to be able to find the spot to change the
setting.

I did some testing with the developer to fix the issues spoke about
here... It seems those things are indeed fixed but there is another
item on the wish list...

At present (read: "Last I heard") the plugin requires you to select
folders to index from the plugin properties screen in TB! The issue is
that if you create a new folder and have selected to index ALL folders
it is still not included for indexing.

Both might be the case, I agree. I can just tell/report what I practise,
if that can be of some help to others, namely... I choose a version
which is (enough) stable (otherwise "fixing/reporting bugs" might become
an endless process and a "merriment for/of millions", while the
action/work limps). I must confess and unbosom that I have no much
patience/time with/for buggy software, and am rather prone to change it
and/or apply some workaround or a specific routine, than to work and
spend my time (additionally) on what is actually programer's duty. If
someone makes a program with just few -+ irrelevant bugs, or even
without them, that's okay for me. But if a program is constantly flooded
with those insects which are actually quite relevant, influencing thus
its functionality, then I get rid of it, I kick it out and take
something I can do my work with.

In the case of Komori! it's a "clean" application (no "plugins", no
jokes) and as fewer interactions as possible with "outer" programs. With
The Flying Mammal! having that powerful, in general, filtering system,
with a little bit of an "once-but-for-ever" work, no additional
anti-spam program is needed at all. Those and such are the charms of La
Chauve-Souris!

By default, K9 listens on port , and not 110 (pop3 default). That may
be the culprit. I forget it each time I install K9 for someone. :-)

I suppose this is part of the same problem. I've had the
connection center hang for days before.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the probelm stems from The Bat,
and its handling of network connections.

Try going through something like a proxy, k9 for examle.
I've written about this before: once all of The Bat's traffic
is routed through a proxy of some sort (k9 and something
homebrew), my connection center issues went away. Things
will usually time out properly. If it doesn't, I can at least
always delete the task, etc.

I find that a rather strange suggestion. I have arranged my settings
so that TB! downloads mail on startup; I've also tried to download,
only when I do Ctrl-F2, with many shades in-between (I even purchased
the Professional Edition), but all with very relative degrees of
success.

Logically, I guess, if I stopped trying to access my email for a week,
I would be free of the problem for a good seven days...

If CC works properly then it abides to the "Server Timeout", which is
usually about 60 seconds (Account | Properties | Transport). If
connection is not established within this time, CC simply closes/dismiss
this account, for the session.

I don't think it is a GMX issue, since they will rather leave a message
("too frequent login, try later" or similar), in "Log Panel", and in no
way will block Bian Fu. At least it never happen to me, having few GMX
accounts for years, and some of them working quite a lot. Else, as I
know, capacity of GMX Mailbox is 1 GB (for free accounts, and for pro
ones much more), so a "pause" in checking for mail even of few days
should not be a problem.

CC usually freezes for other reasons rather, mostly related to Bian Fu's
"plugins", specific settings/maintenance and OS's issues.

The first thing that struck me was, Is the SMTP agent
really sending? Or is it queueing until it finds a healthy
connection? As far as TB is concerned it was able to
successfully send -> to the SMTP agent. So it would appear
to TB your mail was sent.

not sure it's, as such, bandwidth. That is to say, _when_ I see it
fail, as it is now for 1.6 hours according to the CC, it tried to get
mail and never seemed to get out of that mode. And that is typically
how it fails a first-in-an-hour email-check then fails without
making it through.

Now, I always press _check mail for all_ and that may be the REAL
issue. But I have never just tried, for a month solid, to check as
individual ... but will suspect that it would fix the issue indeed.

Tell you what. I will check the box that says "ignore this account
on" and just do GMX manually for a week or so.

That's a long time issue. When an already established connection with
a server fails, the CC (and TB) gets stuck.
It's not very strange that it's the same server most of the time,
because it has something to do with the quality of your connection to
the server and gmx is supposed to be on the other side of the world
for you.
Of course it can be related to the time you're connected to the
server, suppose you get ten times as much mail from gmx as from the
rest, then it's got ten times as likely that that connection fails
when you've got a bad connection from your ISP.

So, in other words: It's a known issue and it's not strange that it's
often the same connection.

I don't know how much bandwidth you've got with gmx, but you could
consider to check the mail less frequently. That lessens the chance of
failure. (Unless every connection with gmx is already downloading
mail)

Shortcuts Conflicts and Shortcut Collections

2006-02-02 Thread Allen Day

After a bit of a hiatus from the luxuries of The Bat/client-side
mail I've come to find a few things changed. While the new
interface for editing shortcuts/toolbars/menus is most certainly
improved from the way I remember it. I'm having a couple of
  prolbems with it, however.

First, conflicts--is there no way to tell if there are conflicting
shortcuts or am I missing something? Also, there are a few items
called "Shortcut Collection" -- where I'd expected to find all the
shortcuts for the parent container, however this isn't the
case--there are shortcuts listed, but by no means all/most of them.
  What's the shortcut collection for?

  Thanks

how to change settings for all accounts easily

2006-02-02 Thread Tom
Hello Everyone,

was just reading about the issue of how TB forwards emails in mime
formatting depending on how it is set up.
On checking my accounts I noticed that all accounts had that box
ticked. I don't think I did that and think it was by default but
that's not the issue of my question.

I now changed all my accounts manually to have this unticked. I fully
appreciate the option of having different settings for different
accounts but is there any way to change something across all accounts
if so desired? If I want all accounts to play a sound when mail
arrives, is there no possibility to do this once and then instruct TB
to do this for all accounts?
