Autobackup while 'asleep'
Fellow list members, Because of differences between computers and operating systems, I am unsure if this question can be answered with any certainty. Since my recent debacle with messages disappearing (in defense of TB, they went missing after a crash while TB was still open) I have set up TB to perform automatic backups daily at 0200hrs. This on an HP laptop running Vista Home Premium. This laptop automatically goes to 'sleep' whenever the lid is folded closed. So, my question is: Will TB 'wake up' the computer (even though the lid is closed) and perform it's backup? This AM was the first time the automatic backup was performed and it should have started at the scheduled time. However, when my wife opened the computer at around 0730hrs, the backup was still in progress. Did it not start until the computer was opened or has it actually been running since 0200hrs? She may have a total of 2500 messages in the entire account spread over several folders. -- TIA, Jack LaRosa mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Conveying information with The Bat! ver: 3.99.3 Operating? with Windows XP Pro ver 5 build 2600 Service Pack 3 Current version is 4.0.24.0 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Leave messages on server
Fellow list members, Under ACCOUNT/PROPERTIES/MAIL MANAGEMENT there exists in the MAIL MESSAGES box a check circle to 'Leave messages on server'. Below that there is a check box to 'Keep messages on server for and then another box to select the number of days. Through experimentation I have found that if you elect to 'Keep messages on server for x days, the account log shows, after a fetch, x messages on server, y new. So apparently, at least on my server (Charter Cable) messages that have already been downloaded are kept and only new messages are actually downloaded on every subsequent fetch. The question is -- What happens after the x days have elapsed? Are ALL the messages on the server deleted or only those over x days old? The second question is -- If I needed to re-fetch a message that had already been downloaded ie, no longer 'new', can I get TB to do it somehow or do I have to visit the server from my browser to see it or try to forward it to myself? -- TIA, Jack LaRosa mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Conveying information with The Bat! ver: 3.99.3 Operating? with Windows XP Pro ver 5 build 2600 Service Pack 3 Current version is 4.0.24.0 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Yes, You can use Message Dispatcher in Account menu to see what messages are stored on server and select them for receive or delete without receiving for example. -- Bye Marek Mikus Czech support of The Bat! http://www.thebat.cz Using the best The Bat! 4.0.34.22 (ALPHA) under Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 3 with MyMacros,XMP,AnotherMacros, AntispamSniper v 3.1.0.1 Notebook Toshiba, Core2 Duo 1.83 GHz, 4 GB RAM Current version is 4.0.24.0 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Your description of how messages are deleted from the server is as I hoped it was. I tried Message Dispatcher and it works exactly as you described. -- Best regards, Jackmailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using TB! v3.99.3 with K9 v1.28 anti spam Windows XP pro 5.1 Build 2600 - Service Pack 3 Current version is 4.0.24.0 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: Voyager
Thomas, If you get a crash though or a virus , how do you get the voyager messages back into the bat... Extensions arent the same! Another usage is by the way if you meet many customers as you could run your mail on about every system visited! tracer0 On Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 7:02 AM, Thomas Fernandez [EMAIL PROTECTED]wrote: Hello Dave, On Mon, 17 Nov 2008 09:14:50 +1100 GMT (17/11/2008, 05:14 +0700 GMT), Dave Cripps wrote: DC This is not to denigrate Voyager, as I think it's a wonderful idea and DC it does work terrifically on the home front and when you are DC travelling very locally and likely to use another home computer, but DC in Europe the UK forget it, you will be locked out of the majority DC of most internet cafe computers. I have a directory called USB on my harddrive for that, I just copy the whole directory onto the stick. Why do I go through all this trouble? - I find it still better to use Voyager with all my email accounts, setting and templates, rather than having to log into the various web interfaces. And when I stay at friends' places in Europe, there will be no problem using the USB stick and Voyager anyway. -- Cheers, Thomas.
