Filter Add to Address Book Question

2003-10-28 Thread Colin Turner
Hi TBUDL,

I am having problems using the Address book, sorry if this is old hat - but I
haven't found anything close in my archives...

I'm using a filter to add addresses off a mailing list, (anonymized version
included below) but if I modify the name details in the address book, the next
mail from the sender will create a new AB entry. Similarly, if the sender has a
variety of monikers, each gets created _despite_ all featuring the same email
address.

For example, receiving mails from the following would generate 6 address
entries:

Dave [EMAIL PROTECTED]
David [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Dave Jones [EMAIL PROTECTED]
dave jones [EMAIL PROTECTED]
DJ [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I also have issues if I place multiple e-mail addresses against an individual,
for example, work, personal, etc,

Is it possible to get the Add to Address book filter option to add based ONLY on
the case insensitive email addresses for a contact ONLY, instead of all this?
Ideally, I'd take the first hit for the Name values.

Am I doing something Wrong? Is this more an issue with the Address book than the
filter?

Filter Statistics

2003-07-28 Thread Colin Turner
Hi

I have an account that I use for mailing lists, which has a large (100+) number
of (generally exclusive) filters active, and which receives anything up to 200
mails a day. Would it serve any beneficial purpose to sort the filters according
to their relative usage to 'streamline' the inbox processing?

I know that the Account Log records the firing of any filter, but are there any
other locations that TB keeps statistics on the firing of filters, which I could
use to determine the relative ordering?

Re: recover deleted messages

BR Hi TBUDL,

BR I've managed to delete messages using a rule (which was not meant to
BR happen, of course...) and I would like to recover them.
BR The message text still seems to be in the file itself.
BR Any ideas?

If you haven't done a compress, have you tried this?

1. select the folder (I presume it was your Inbox [Known?])
2. select the Folder menu
3. Select Browse Deleted Messages

Hope this helps

Hello Colin,

Oops - I appear to have a problem with a filter causing a duplicate posting.
Apologies for the copies, I will attempt to trace the cause...

(hopefully it's not something simple to make me look REALLY dumb ;-})
