I think it might be the problem with the gmail smtp server since on my

I'm trying to use mygate and wil ask if I can't.

Interesting. That would mean that the SMTP servers of gmail rewrite the
DATE header, because it is normally created by the MUA, not by the
 server.

Well if that is the case, then it should be TB's problem? Since my
date has been okay. And since I'm using evaluation copy. Wouldn't TB
complain or change the no. of days remaining if my date changed?

I have seen this problem before ... a few years ago and when asked the
friend who sent this email, he said his date was fine. So it had to do
with the server I thought. In his case, it was not days, it was some
years ago. Lol. That time I used to use Netscape IMAP since TB was not
there yet. And I remember the message going to the end of all.

And it works beautifully! I have been using it for years.

And where do you get MyGate and how to use it with TB? I searched
google for mygate but didn't get any news related site.

Is there a quick way to switch between plain text editor and HTML editor? I

Here's a graphic of the smtp settings I have
 http://www.rootshell.be/~crashd/smtpauth.jpg

Those don't seem to match the documentation at:
 http://www.fastmail.fm/docs/faqparts/ExternalMail.htm#ServerDetails

Specifically, they suggest using port 587 with TLS for SMTP.

Yesterday after getting MAU's reply, I went to the smtp settings again, tried
to send a mail using the FM account again and the server gave a different error
than the warning message it gave previously. It was some temporary deferral
error. I tried again later and same error.

Then last night, after googling about the warning message problem, I read
someone saying it's due to checking the Perform RFC 2554 authentication in SMTP
settings. So I just tested with removing that check mark as well as the
require secure authentication.

The server gave the normal authentication required error. I checked the
Perform SMTP authentication again and the message went thru without anyu
problem. I did not change anything at all. What happened? I had tried all this
and all possible SMTP settings last 3 weeks and never was able to send and now
the message went as if nothing had happened.

Strange thing. What was the problem and how did it get solved automatically?
Even on this page someone said that this problem went away automatically:

Check the configuration of your IMAP sent mail folder.

Account / Properties / Mail Management / Pre-Defined Folders... select
your IMAP sent folder and TB will use it instead of the local folder.

If thats what you mean. :-)

Thanks that worked. I was looking for this setting in the Sent Mail properties

WARNING: there were no compatible authentication protocols

2007-03-22 Thread Deboo
Hello List,

I'm getting the above error when tryign to send mails using my main account's
smtp. This started happenning with the last Christmas edition of TB. This error
is detailed here and some solutions but none worked for me. I have installed
new versions but this problem persists.

http://www.ritlabs.com/en/forum/read.php?FID=4TID=4026MID=15532phrase_id=120292

The TB team makes new features available but this is something they should work
on before new features, isn't it? I am using another smtp which seems to work
for now but that's a trial account have with and email provider. Can not use
it for long. I have had this problem with another smtp too. Using plain smtp or
with tls/starttls, nothing works.

Can someone give me a solution? TB's support for smtp is broken.

It's already unchecked and I have tried all possible combinations of
regular/TLS/STARTTLS and the one you said above.

I'm pasting here a link to the error log. I hope that's better than pasting it

In case of gmail, I was able to add the certificate. It is a pain to

I've been waiting and waiting to see if anyone replies to this message - I
have posted a similar message twice recently but never get a response.
Considering the usual prompt and informed replies to requests for help on
this list I find it baffling.

Are you and I the only ones with this problem?

Well, I had kind of forgotten that I had posted this to the list and kept
getting grustrated on geting that dialog box Unknown CA certificate. Thanks
for reminding me to search for this. After I got your message, I just went to
google and searched for unknown ca certificate+the bat and got the reply
on the first page. Thanks to google. I'm not so frustrated now.

Here's what you need to do:

Go to your Data folder, and delete IntermCA.ABD and RootCA.ABD. They will be
rebuilt when you restart TB.

I am on Win XP and for me the data folder was here:

C:\Documents and Settings\deboo\Application Data\The Bat!

Hope that helps
