Re: Anti-spam plugins and TB!
Hello Nick, Thursday, June 24, 2004, 11:40:06 PM, you wrote: NO Hi All (again), NO Still working out some issues with TB! v2. Does v2 come with an NO anti-spam plug-in by default? Specifically one that would add to the NO subject line intercepted as spam any message it found as suspicious? NO Thank you for any input, suggestions or solutions. The Bat! v2 comes with the latest version of BayesIt in the The Bat!\BayesIt folder. When BayesIt is activated it will check incoming mails and if one of these mails is detected as SPAM it will move it to the Junk Mail folder. (this is configurable though). Check Options/Preferences/Protection/Anti SPAM for more :) You will need to train BayesIT with both SPAM and NON-SPAM (HAM) to learn it what is spam and not. Just select all your current SPAM and Mark as Junk, and select all your other mails and select Mark as not Junk (from the specials menu). When you get a SPAM that was not caught by the filter, just mark it as junk, and if you find a non-spam in the Junk Mail folder just Mark as not Junk. For me BayesIt! works 98% right now, very nice. I also got AVG that removes 100% of all viruses. -- /Fredrik The Bat! 2.11.02 on Windows XP 5.1 2600 Service Pack 1 Current version is 2.11.02 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I see that the only difference is that you need to remove the earlier bases and that the training function in the configuration dialog is gone. I marked all the mails that I have in my Junk folders (about 25.000) and clicked Mark as Junk from the Specials Menu. That's the new way to train, it even shows a small dialog (if you have enabled it) that says training. Would have been fun to have some kind of documentation for 0.5.5, I found some in russian but babelfish.alstavista.com did not help me that much, and I did not understand anything of it :). Problems with lockups when downloading mail.
Hello tbudl, Actually, I'm back. I really need to send another picture to the rouges gallery, the one there is _old_ :) Well, anyway. I'm having some problems with The Bat! hanging when downloading mail, or not hanging but the download stops and the task stays in the Connection Centre. If I want to close The Bat! when a Task is hung I need to use the Task Manager. This means that I will loose all settings for folders that I have made since the last startup of The Bat! ;( I have Bayesit! 0.5.5 and AVG installed. I had the same problem when using Bayesit! 0.4 but I do not know if it is caused by that. Anyone that have had the same problem? /Fredrik Current version is 2.11.02 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

SMTP Servers
Hello tbudl, This is probably off topic and the moderators will kill me, but here we go :) Here in Sweden our ISPs are trying to stop SPAM and Viruses by not allowing connections to other SMTP servers than the one in the ISPs network. This means that on my notebook I need to use one SMTP server when I'm at home and one when I'm at work. I solved this by creating a small software that is placed in the Tray and selected the right SMTP server based on where you are on the Internet. The software is in Beta state and I would really like to have some beta testers, anyone interested? Please contact me off-list about beta testing. Well, its not that much off topic :) Maybe I should read the rules before getting another moderator cut mark in one day :).
