NO Thank you for any input, suggestions or solutions.

The Bat! v2 comes with the latest version of BayesIt in the
The Bat!\BayesIt folder.

When BayesIt is activated it will check incoming mails and if one of
these mails is detected as SPAM it will move it to the Junk Mail
folder. (this is configurable though). Check
Options/Preferences/Protection/Anti SPAM for more :)

You will need to train BayesIT with both SPAM and NON-SPAM (HAM) to
learn it what is spam and not.

Just select all your current SPAM and Mark as Junk, and select all
your other mails and select Mark as not Junk (from the specials
menu).

When you get a SPAM that was not caught by the filter, just mark it as
junk, and if you find a non-spam in the Junk Mail folder just Mark as
not Junk.

For me BayesIt! works 98% right now, very nice.
I also got AVG that removes 100% of all viruses.

AW Mine is at 99.8% for last month and 99.94% for last week :)

GD I would be happy if I could catch 1 spam... :-(

GD I have SpamAssassin running on the mail server, it throws certain Spam into an IMAP
GD account for manual proofing - I mark all this and flag as Junk (training
GD BayesIt)

GD Spam that reaches TB also gets marked as Junk (more BayesIt training)

GD The problem is that BayesIt never catches spam on it's own !!

GD I did not have this problem with BayesIt 0.4g, I have followed the advice
GD to delete all previous dictionaries, but BayesIt just sits there and does
GD nothing

I installed a newer version of Bayesit! yesterday, going from 0.4gm to
0.5.5.

I see that the only difference is that you need to remove the earlier
bases and that the training function in the configuration dialog is gone.

I marked all the mails that I have in my Junk folders (about 25.000)
and clicked Mark as Junk from the Specials Menu. That's the new way
to train, it even shows a small dialog (if you have enabled it) that
says training.

Would have been fun to have some kind of documentation for 0.5.5, I
found some in russian but babelfish.alstavista.com did not help me
that much, and I did not understand anything of it :).

If you do not have enough SPAM I could send you some :) for training.

Hello tbudl,

  Actually, I'm back.
I really need to send another picture to the rouges gallery, the one

Well, anyway. I'm having some problems with The Bat! hanging when
downloading mail, or not hanging but the download stops and the task
  stays in the Connection Centre.

If I want to close The Bat! when a Task is hung I need to use the
Task Manager. This means that I will loose all settings for folders
that I have made since the last startup of The Bat! ;(

I have Bayesit! 0.5.5 and AVG installed. I had the same problem when
using Bayesit! 0.4 but I do not know if it is caused by that.

Anyone that have had the same problem?

FW But don't forget to train BayesIt also on Ham. If possible, take the

Ohh, that is interesting, that may be why I have problems with the

I guess that I have to select lots of HAM (nonspam?) and click Mark

Would be nice to have that in the knowledgebase on ritlabs.com since

It happens here every once in a while, but not often. I thought it had
to do with K9 or MyGate, but most of the time it works ok, even when I
check all accounts. I cannot reproduce it deliberately.

aacu Are you using the BayesIt plug-in?

aacu I got continual lock-ups exactly as you described - poss because I had
aacu many email accounts to check as well.

aacu I ditched BayesIt and went to POPFile as a result.

aacu Amybe BayesIt has a problem when there are many connections going on?

I thought that maybe AVG or something else was the problem, so I
disabled AVG and Bayesit! and the problem was gone.

I will try enabling BayesTt and see if the problem comes back, if so
I will send a bug report to the developers.

TF I have seen many reports (here and on the German lists) about the
TF BayesIt plugin causing problems. Try uninstalling the plugin and see
TF whether the problem persists.

I have reinstalled the plugin and trained it with some 100k mails
until it crashed ;). But now it seems to be detecting more spam than
when using the older version and I just have to wait and see if it
locks up again (hope not).

SMTP Servers

2004-06-21 Thread Fredrik Bergstrm
Hello tbudl,

This is probably off topic and the moderators will kill me, but here
  we go :)

Here in Sweden our ISPs are trying to stop SPAM and Viruses by not
allowing connections to other SMTP servers than the one in the ISPs
network. This means that on my notebook I need to use one SMTP
server when I'm at home and one when I'm at work.

I solved this by creating a small software that is placed in the
Tray and selected the right SMTP server based on where you are on
  the Internet.

The software is in Beta state and I would really like to have some
beta testers, anyone interested? Please contact me off-list about
  beta testing.

Well, its not that much off topic :) Maybe I should read the rules
before getting another moderator cut mark in one day :). Hey, what
is the purpose of this butto...
