Tool for removing the Goner worm
Symentec US is providing a free tool for removal of this uninvited guest, with a full explanation of how it operates and propagates. I'm sure other antivirus companies are doing the same, but thought this might be useful. http:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Gene Gaines [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sterling, Virginia Happy TheBat! user -- what email should be, an efficient, quality program supported beautifully. -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com
Re: More MS trickery?
Yuki, I am very interested in knowing if you determine what causes this problem. Please let me know off-list. Thanks. Sorry, there is no information, blah, blah, blah. Anyone know what is happening here? My Run key seems clean in the registry, as well as the start up folder. I can account for everything in those two locations, and none of these items acted up under 98. Would not be surprised to find MS guilty of trying to ram Outlook down everyone's throat of course. My worst fear with TheBat
Love the program! Have one problem, and yes, my worst fear. With email receiving on all day long while I am working in other applications, I jump into TheBat, fly through new mail, and if there are a large number of emails in TRASH, I empty it. My fear is that I will select one of my folders just above or below TRASH, and kill the wrong mail. (As protection, I keep a PARKED message in the folder just above and just below TRASH.) There needs to be a safeguard, such as an EMPTY TRASH icon or menu item. Is there such a function and I am missing it? Re[2]: Size and complexity of mail database
Joseph, I am running The Bat! 1.51. In a word, magnificent. I have 32,615 emails in over 100 folders. My Inbox alone has 1,305 emails. Disk occupied is 389 MB -- I have a good number of emails with large attachments. Speed is excellent. And this on 100 MHz Pentium with 96 MB ram, Windows 95. Don't need more machine for this application. My only complaint is that I receive a few very large emails with complex html formatting, and these take longer than I would like to load to read. Re[4]: Terrorist Attacks
Dominic, Re: Your statement American thinking can be dangerous. I say gently, lumping all Americans together as either bad or good is a mistake. My America is a highly diverse land, rich with many cultures that live together with surprisingly little friction. Here is my own American thinking. I volunteer as a tour guide at the U.S. Capitol building. My next shift is Saturday morning. I will be there. I will be there to honor freedom, not to promote American thinking. I will honor such people who worked for freedom as Constantion Brumedi, Thaddeus Kosciusko and George Washington. I list Washington last because he would have said all men are equal, list our names in alphabetic order. Never, particularly since the reaction of many Americans on NG's is to 'nuke whoever is responsible'.
