Yes, but I was only answering the question. Though it would be better
and easier for Tai to do it your way;)

You bet there is. Back up up you MAIL folder (by default, this is
C:\Program Files\The Bat!\MAIL). After reinstaling, copy it back to
it's place. Then start TB!, and create account with the same name as
before. Now select the account and hit Alt+Ctrl+Shift+L to recreate
folders. Repeat the procedure for every account.

Yes, of course, this is The Bat! ;)

Your filtering string should look like this:
fred | steph
The special character | means OR.

Really? Maybe in higher versions (though I doubt it). I still use
v1.42 and have no problems importing address book thru .csv format (in
a way I described previously).

Chuck already answered some of your questions, so I'll try to help you
with the rest of it.

LR> How do I default to no template?

I'm not so sure about this. Try deleting Quick Templates (just in case
you don't know, it's Account>Properties>Quick Templates).

LR> Do I have to use a template to add a signature?

Yeah, I think so. I can't remember any other way to do it (except
inserting it manualy:)).

LR> Is there any way to get the addresses from
LR> Outlook Express into the bat. I've got hundreds of
LR> them and I can not possibly re-enter them all!!!

Yes, it's posible, but AFAIK, not directly. You have to export OE's
address book, and then import it into The Bat!
Try this:
1. Enter OE
2. Go File\Export\Address Book
3. Select the file type you wanna export to (select Plain Text here)
   and click Export
4. Enter name for exported file (it can be anything, it's just
   important to remember the location).
5. Select the fields you wanna export.
6. Click Finish and you're done exporting.
7. Enter The Bat!'s Adress Book.
8. Go File\Import From\Comma-separated\ (plain text)
9. Locate the previously exported file.
10.Now choose fiels you wanna import and click OK.
11.Enjou using The Bat! ;)

Note: This question and answer should join FAQ, 'cause anyone
transfering to another email client wants it's address book to be
accesible. But again, it's just my opinion.
