RO and install it again and point it your your current message base, so
RO you won't loose mail.

 Ok, I tried it
 1. uninstall, install again : no change
 2. uninstall, reboot, set windows mail as default, reboot
 3. install The Bat, got message to install it as default, for all
 possibilities,
marked them all : no change
 4. reboot : no change

It only seems to effect the 'mailto-tag' in webpages
When I want to sent a file with email out of explorer it takes The Bat

 I'm open to suggestions

Go into internet options in the control panel and pick The Bat as the
mail client if it isn't chosen already. Sounds boneheaded I know ...

 Hello Eric,

I've had a similar problem with one of my POP3 accounts.
On right clicking, a lot of options were greyed out:
reply, forward, redirect, save as, delete, mark as
unread, mark as read, and print.

 See https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=6593

I had someone with grayed out ICONS. The solution for that was to go
into customize, change something (icon size for instance) save then
go back in and undo it if you wish - but it fixed it

Q2: When i have a parked message and i want to move it manually to

AFAIK there is no option to keep the Parked status. Maybe a filter
could be a workaround, but I don't know how, yet. – I think you
should file a wish to Bugtracker. I would support. :-)

Is not the purpose of parking a message to keep you from accidentally
deleting or moving it. I would think the work around would be to
unpark it.

You get a message asking you if you really want to move a parked
message and it will allow it. I think it is working as designed

That's what I want to change. I want to reassign the F2 keyboard

I found how to access the keyboard shortcuts in Version 4 --
right-click on the toolbar, click Customise and select the Shortcuts

assign F2 as the shortcut to Get new mail for all, the change still
 won't stick.

Under shortcuts main form / main menu / account you will see account

 Hello Tbudl,

This may be OT, but it is to do with this (and other) list/s.

I am using gMail via POP3 SMPT and I am not see my own e-mail being
returned to this list. I think that it is a property of gMail as I can
see it in sent items in the web interface.

I know that gMail will not show your email in the inbox if you sent
it to a list. I was hoping that would not apply to POP3 and SMTP.

I have looked at the filter in gMail but can not see one to override
 this behaviour.

I could set up filters for my out box but I don't really want to
 have to do that.

My other option is to use a different SMTP server to sent it out.
Which I might end up to doing.

I have never seen gmail return my mail to me on any group; Listman
like this one, yahoo groups etc.

That's just the way it works and I never found a way around that
other than ccing myself or another account.

ALL the email software on my computer is having problems sending,
though Thunderbird seems able to deal with my gmail account with no problem.

I'm thinking somehow some settings have been changed somewhere,

reinstalling The Bat! as I really prefer it to any other email
software I've used. And hope that a reinstall helps.

double check the settings with some of us on the list - a lot easier
than reinstalling and that might not fix it.

You mentioned Gmail sending ... are you set to (under mail transport)

case, you would be able to send but not receive.

And while you are at it - check that the POP3 server you are connecting to
is typed correctly. That can give the
 same error I have found.

Common errors (aprt from just getting things plain wrong) are a space at
 beginning or end of
server/username/password - or indeed in the middle of course. Commas instead
 of fullstops (points). l
 for 1, o for 0, _ for -, q or g for 9, etc.

OK this is strange I dropped the qualifer and everything works like a
charm...However with DreamMail and Outlook I need the fully qualified
 name.Any ideas why?

Nope and if at some point it seems to stop working, the first thing
you do is add the full name back in. This falls under the principle
of go figure :))

Sometimes a mail server will be quirky with [EMAIL PROTECTED] and needs
name+domain.com (note the plus sign - there are a couple of others
that can be used but the @ can cause trouble)

Re: New, Reply Format

2008-02-19 Thread Rick Grunwald
 Hello TBUDL,

I hope someone can answer this question? Why is that version
4.0.14 displays the Reply and New Message body in HTML now and not
plain text. Especially on Replies when you need to refer to the
text to answer back, it makes it very difficult to read what the
other person has written because now TB turn it into HTML and greys
the text out so it makes it impossible to translate and read.

You can right click on the message preview and choose plain text
editor but you may have to go to options and define how you want
plain text to look. From what I understand it is a brand new editor

 Hello TBUDL,

Does enyone know why TB asks to select a language now everytime I send an
email? I'm not sure I care for this bloated interface.

Next time you edit a message ope the SPELL CHECKER menu then
LANGUAGES and pick your default language. That choice should stick
until you change it

Re: attachment in-line

2008-02-19 Thread Rick Grunwald

 Hello Tbudl,

Sometimes I am getting an e-mail with attachments, where the attachment
is actually in the e-mail itself.

I tried to get this a number of ways unsuccessfully. How can I do it?

I tried with MicroEd with HTML but could not make it.

   Would appreciate any suggestions.

I'm not understanding - does the email show in the attachment pane?

 Hello Dwight,

My e-mails are half plain text and HTML. Do you know how to change
this? I have toggled these settings till I'm blue in the face and
still can't get it to work.

This email is all in plain text. The signature delimiter is causing
the gray text below.

Re: Hunspell spell checker

2008-02-16 Thread Rick Grunwald
 Batfolk,

I notice on the beta list discussion about the Hunspell spell
checker. I also notice that the this latest released version of TB
installs a hunspell.dll file in my program directory.

However, needless to say, there is nothing about it in the help files.

Can anyone tell me what it means?

It's a spell checker. There have been some issues on the beta list
about getting it to work. Someone with more knowledge of huspell may
shoot you a more detailed answer.

 Thanks Stuart.

Did not see the little planet icon, but there was a choice at bottom
left - to untick showing this window automatically. So did this. (No
way to get it back if I ever want it - unlikely -, and no help from
the help button at bottom right.)

You will only see the icon if you are highlighting an HTML email with
external links
