I notice Opera has the same problem (small company with everyone
expecting a new version every 10 minutes and personal feedback to
every query); that's a downside of being close to your users.

Conversely, I don't think people get excited about Microsoft bringing
out, or not bringing out, a new version of Internet Explorer or
Outlook Express. Especially as these are running into diminishing
returns; The Bat! is the same. After all, it's only an email package,
albeit a very powerful one.

(In fact, given Microsoft's enormous resources, one could wonder why
it takes 18 months to 2 years to get the next version of Office out.
On second thoughts, shhh ... I might give them ideas ;)

Yes, You are right, of course, but it's little sorry, that (for
example) conservations about 2.0 one years (!) ago gone down and 2.0 itself too

I do wonder HOW they released even that that they did

AFAIK 2.0 is work in progress. You can't just port a program like TB onto
C++ like that - it's a lot of work which the developers have to do. Besides
bug-fixing and everything else on the current versions, that is.
Maybe they won't release 2.0 as just another version number but instead
follow the unix-procfeedings: don't release a new major version until bugs
have been fixed and it includes everything that was meant to be included.

Some companies release a new GUI with basically the same code behind it and
give it a new version number. They will even go as far as making people pay
for that. I'm happy that TB is not one of these programs.

Wrong, v2 is not down, yet. The last we heard was, it will come out in
January.

In the moment they have some bugs to fix for 1.54. Considering that we
haven't heard much for more than 4 weeks I think they work like ...
hell.

We are accustomed to get a new version every few weeks - some
shareware is even updated every few days - so it is a bit
disconcerting to not hear from our favourite developers. ;-)

Umm now that you ask: I'm not sure. I heard that v2 will be coded in a
different programming language and just assumed C++, I guess. No false
rumours intended.

DE ¿ Does this mean the 2.0 is in C++ not Delphi 6 ?

I think it means to say that but it is incorrect in doings so. V2 is
100% definitely in Delphi 6. I suspect that 1.54 beta 10e is the first
public beta of the Delphi 6 build, but that's a pure guess.

As to the dead animal theory, the fact is that much of the feature
set slated for v2 has been added to the mainstream 1.xx series since
1.42. Version 1.54 may never actually be released under that version
number - IMHO we are deep into beta testing of V2 prior to its release
in January.
