Error Messages

2008-07-04 Thread Bill McCarthy
Hello TB User Discussion List,

I've been getting a pair of error messages in my error file
(thebat_Exceptions.log) each time I start TB!. This began
after a power outage shut down my system.

The two messages follow - does anyone know what these
messages are trying to tell me?

ex_log.txt error messages

2006-12-27 Thread Robin Anson
Batfolk,

I have found a file called ex_log.txt in my mail directory. In it is
a list of error messages that appears to have a set of entries for
each time I have started up TB! since I upgraded to v3.85.01 back in
September. These entries are almost all identical and look like this:

v3.95.6 ANSONR/Robin Anson 28/12/2006 10:55:27 GUIDEF:Cannot bind layout item
[ViewFrame].[mMessageDataDownloadMode]
v3.95.6 ANSONR/Robin Anson 28/12/2006 10:55:27 GUIDEF:Cannot bind layout item
[ViewFrame].[mReloadImages]
v3.95.6 ANSONR/Robin Anson 28/12/2006 10:55:27 GUIDEF:Cannot bind layout item
[ViewFrame].[mShowURLManager]

Can anyone shed any light on the meaning of this?

Robin

If you experience the same again, let us know. Maybe you have a

I haven't had this problem for a fewe versions now, though.

Another thing to try if you ever get the error again - disable the e-mail
scanning option on your anti-virus if you have one and it is set to scan
e-mail. I can't remember the exact error text, but it sounds like the same
error I used to get. There was a problem between my anti-virus (Trend
PC-cillin) and The Bat! It used to work fine, then one day errors started to
appear, mainly when I sent e-mails from memory. I suspect it was probably a
signature or engine update on PC-cillin that caused the problem (I had
PC-cillin set to automatically update every 12 hours). Anyway, whatever the
problem, PC-cillin and The Bat! just don't like each other, so I've had to
disable the e-mail (both incoming and outgoing) scan options in PC-cillin. No
more errors at least.

strange error messages upon execution of altF2

2005-07-04 Thread Achdut18
Hi, everyone. Now that I have several e-mail accounts from which to
download e-mail, I have begun using the altF2 command, which
downloads e-mail for all accounts. Unfortunately, I have experienced
an application crash about 1/10 of the time when this command is
executed. I have received two different types of error messages in
pop-up windows: 1. System error. Code: 6. The handle is invalid.
2. External exception C008.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

I would be VERY interested in an option to turn on/off DETAILED
logging.

I am not a programmer, but I would also be interested in having some
sort of LOG ANALYZER that would give statistics and summaries of the
number of messages received, errors reported, the filters used and
number of messages acted on by each filter over time. It would be
nice to know this information, as well as a useful tool for debugging
any errant filters. Anyone else??

This plus the never-ending request for a message base repair tool that
will work for message bases that become too large! I now have 9 of
these files sitting languishing on my system and taking up over 18GB
of space. I don't have the several days (or weeks!) it would take to
extract all the attachments from these files. Perhaps a check within
the program that would WARN of this problem, say 100-200 MB before it
happens?

I have also returned to my re-engineered X-SENDER header due to two
more family members switching ISP to a stupid and uneducated one that
bans Bat-mail as [EMAIL PROTECTED] Could we have the option to turn this header

2002-07-14 Thread Greg Strong

Hello TBUDL,

I have a few email accounts down on one domain. TB! does not show any
error messages on either send or shows 0 emails to receive on test.

I know that some of the accounts should be receiving email, since they
are used for mail lists. I've checked a few of the mail lists' web
interface and new emails have been sent. These email accounts have a
web interface to access. I've access one of the web interfaces which
did not show any of the previously sent test emails.

I am able to successfully send and receive on other accounts. I have
contacted the provider but it is most likely it will be some time
before hearing back from them. I feel this is most likely a mail
server problem with the provider, but any ideals to narrow or identify
the problem would be appreciated?

What I don't understand is why TB! does NOT provide any error messages
on either send or receive of email. Any ideals that would help
expedite this would be greatly appreciated? TIA!

I have noticed sometimes (at least with 1.60c), TB! doesn't display an error
message if the connection attempt times out. Unfortunately timeouts are not
customizable (something on the wishlist I think). It could be a number of
issues causing it, like a temporary server issue, or bad connection.

What I don't understand is why TB! does NOT provide any error messages

As for not showing any messages about it not sending, I wouldn't know, I've
never actually had any problems in that area. Does the mail leave your outbox?
Or does it just pop back up on failure to send?

As far as TB! was concerned the log looked like everything okay. It
was just like accounts that were working except on receive log
indicated 0 email when there should be some.

I did here back from tech support. Apparently there is a problem with
mail jamming the spool. I will have to inquire because I was moved to
another server back in February or March due to inconsistent mail.

If I get this email back, then things working okay for now. g

account on a server?

Maybe it was picking up from the wrong server, where you do have 0 messages

Well you said they moved an account (maybe the offending account) to a different
server. Some ISPs have mail servers setup (if large enough) to have a single
collecting server, but several servers running behind it with the accounts on
it. If they'd moved the account from one server to another due to load issues,
the single access point might have pointed you to the wrong server for
collection... just speciculation... probably something worth taking up with your
ISP.

TB! Error messages - access violation

2001-06-24 Thread Carren Stuart

Hello TBUDL,

Twice today I have had error messages from TB! Once when trying to
do a mailto from within another programe, and once just now when I
  tried to close TB!
The first error message I got was: access violation at address
00683B1E. Read of address . The second error message was the
same except the first lot of numbers was different - sorry, I
clicked OK before I wrote them down :-(
What do these errors mean? What do I do about them? These are the
first errors I have had from TB! and I don't like them!

TF or something like that. I have never found that cancel button, but if

There are no cancel buttons at server. There is command QUIT which it

The responce of server means that it has not receive a QUIT command
while in previous session. Session at POP server is keeped open since
last entered command for timeout period which is set by your POP

First, you have to check how did the previous session finished and why.

Hi tracer,

On 17 January 2000 at 10:33:28 GMT +0700 (which was 03:33 where I
live) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote and made these points:

Lone-Wolf SEND- Server reports error. The response is :Bad sequence
Lone-Wolf of commands (quite frequently - mail cannot be sent but
Lone-Wolf finally gets away after a few tries)

I've started having "send" troubles since 1.38e. I must admit that
IMHO the problem has been server-side, but I thought I'd mention it to
see if anyone else had seen anything.

I often (these days) go to send a mail and the Sending dialog just
hangs. My SMTP server is here, on-site, so I can actually see what
happens. It gets two lines into the SMTP protocol and freezes. I can
cancel the session at either end, but the only way I have found to
make it work in subsequent attempts is to wait for the server to
time-out. The very next send session works perfectly, hence my theory
that the server is at fault.

Lone-Wolf also a new one has popped up:-

Lone-Wolf FETCH - Server reports error. The response is: - ERR[IN USE] Failed
Lone-Wolf to lock or parse or multiple access.

t I have seen this as well a few times but considered it a fluke.
t On the other hand, besides the Bat having a problem, it could mean
t what it says: someone else using your mailbox and in MY case that most
t certainly was the case: my expartner had hacked into mailbox.

Isn't another possibility that a previous connection got dumped
without a log-off from the POP server?

Cheers,
Marck

TF clients is automatically pop-checking. Suggest to change your
TF password... ;-)

Oleg It can be if you DUN session was aborted unexpectedly while connected
Oleg to POP server. If so ask your POP provider about timeout set at POP
Oleg server.
Thats a good one, but I am afraid they would ask me what the timeout
does..
Sofar from what I have seen the local isp's are so hacker friendly
that in our case its almost certainly someone being on line with a
logon he shouldnt use..

t Anyone getting locked out of a pop server as its in use should
t consider doing that unless the server malfunctions it means
t exactly what it says, you mailbox is in use, either by yourself with a
t second account or by an unauthised reader. Which also may mean a
t password change of the login could save money...

For a while I used ICQ to auto-poll my mailboxes every so often, and
if my email client tried to DL mail, I'd get this message. Just
another place to look for a potential "user" of your mail accounts...

Possible but if it happened here first thing I would do is change

Hi Tom,

On 17 January 2000 at 01:35:51 GMT -0800 (which was 09:35 where I
live) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote and made these points:

MDP I've started having "send" troubles since 1.38e. I must admit that
MDP IMHO the problem has been server-side, but I thought I'd mention it to
MDP see if anyone else had seen anything.

TP Maybe APOP is screwing you up? Try turning that off and see if it
TP helps.

1. It's not on.
2. It's the SMTP session that is stalling.

Thanks for the thought though.

Agreed, but my icq doesnt poll the mailboxes,
Besides in my case my account WAS hacked, passwords got later changed
and if I had taken notice earlier that something odd was happening it
would have saved me a lot of headache. My mail was rerouted to a
different address but that was noticable very quickly as a stream of
hundreds of emails per day just dried out..
What I DO mean is that in a case like this, you better change the
passwords as a precaution. Its a potential reason so why not take care
of it.

Error Messages

2000-01-16 Thread Lone-Wolf

Hello

Get 2 error messages:-

SEND- Server reports error. The response is :Bad sequence of commands
(quite frequently - mail cannot be sent but finally gets away after a
few tries)

also a new one has popped up:-

FETCH - Server reports error. The response is: - ERR[IN USE] Failed
to lock or parse or multiple access.

I am receiving from two mail servers (isp) on Bat.

Any advice? Can't find any error messages in the "Help" file.

Regards,

I have seen this as well a few times but considered it a fluke.
On the other hand, besides the Bat having a problem, it could mean
what it says: someone else using your mailbox and in MY case that most
certainly was the case: my expartner had hacked into mailbox.
