IMAP/TB! has gone VERY wrong!

2004-06-05 Thread Chris Weaven
Hi TB! users,

I've been using TB! for a bit today, and it's suddenly gone all mad on
me!

I first spotted the problem when I noticed some of my mail that was
previously being auto-filtered was no longer moving. Fine I thought,
I'll try manually triggering the filter, but again, nothing happened :-(

Then on further inspection, I noticed the folder counts were randomly
flashing up like they were trying to refresh the count. I had 6 unread
previously filtered mail in one folder and about 4 previously filtered
unread mail in another. On opening the folders to read those mails, I
couldn't see them and the count (6) was still there.

From that, I thought I'd send myself a quick test message, and wow, that
caused problems!

The mail went to the outbox and sent as expected, but it then didn't
move from the outbox and the count remained at 1. The mail was then
being sent every 1 minute on connection to the server and I couldn't
delete the mail from the outbox! It sent 12 copies before I
Ctrl-Alt-Del'd it. On restarting TB!, the same problem and I got two
AV's (attached). God damn, I just got a Not Responding when trying to
browse for the file to attach!

This isn't good news! :-/

I no longer am able to leave TB! running for long periods since
something usually happens with IMAP that requires a restart to get
working correctly again. However, I've discovered that disconnecting
from the server and then reconnecting also helps in some instances.
Otherwise an exit and restart is all that will help.

Try a restart and emptying the cache for all local IMAP folders.
You'll be sortof starting with a clean slate.

I don't remember exactly how long TB! was running for, but it certainly
wasn't any longer than a couple of hours.

I will certainly keep that in mind though! :-)
