Thanks for your reply. That answers my question. And I guess it is
simply NO.

I was not clear about WHY I want to install two versions.
It is simply to see if one of the newer versions will work on my
computer. I installed a couple of them but they had so many
uncomfortable bugs in them that I had to uninstall and go back to the
reliable old 1.49. And that is a time-consuming process.
I thought how good it would be if I could just install a newer version, see if it
works and
then proceed from there.

THAT would certainly be to my advantage Bat designers, please
listen to this!!

Unfortunately, you can't install two versions of TB! within the same
user space. This is because of TB! and the registry. If you install to
another location, the new installations registry settings will overwrite
the old one.

You have to log on as a separate user and then install again.

RS> If this question is just too silly,

Not silly at all. This is one of the reasons why many have been
requesting that TB! not store any of its settings in the registry but
instead in an ini file in the installation directory. In this way, you
could run as many instances of TB! you wish to within the same user
space.

Hello!

As an answer for Your letter, I would like to write:

Yes and no. You may install two versions in different directories, but
they will use the same directory to store files (mails, account configs,
etc). However You can export one branch from Your registry after
installing first version (You can do it now, because You already have
Bat! installed) than install second one in different directory,
selecting different directory to store mail. Than You export the same
branch, but it's going to be different in data. Now, to make Your life
easier (but is it easier with two Bat!s? ;) Create some .bat files, so
starting one You instert Your [first].reg to registry and run Bat, and
another one to instert second registry info and start different Bat
version.

O my! It's even more complicated than I thought. And I don't know is it
clear enough to understand :)))

Best Regards
IronHand

Need some advice from you pros!!

2001-08-14 Thread Richard Stephens

Hello TBUDL,

I am sorry if this message is a little basic for the group but I am
hoping someone can give me some advice:

As you can see from below, I am still using v1.49 because it is the
only version that seems to run without a lot of problems on my
computer. The only thing I can't do is print directly because I have
an Epson and there is a bug that has never been patched. But I
digress.

I would like to install the newest version to see if it will work but
I don't want to uninstall or overwrite this one. (I have lived
through that too many times now!!!?

Is there any way I can install two versions of TB on my computer??
Without causing a lot of conflicts??

If this question is just too silly, tell me and I will not worry about
it. I am happy with my old version of the Bat!!1

Best regards always,
Richard
