Hi Nick,

of "FAQ news - Moderator's notice":

NA I don't know what it was about the page that caused the problem,
NA but I've never had a problem with the Flash Player before this. Oh
NA well...

Tony included a ShockWave flash graphic in the page header. It works
fine here on Win2k and WinMe. I haven't tried it on Win98. Perhaps
there was a problem with your installation of SWF and a reinstall
would clear it up...

Hi Marck,

Yes, I've tried a new install of the Flash Player, both off of my Win 98
SE CD, and off of the Macromedia site itself. Even the Macromedia example
on their site crashes, but at least now all that crashes is IE. Last
night, my whole computer crashed. I have the page printed out now, so it's
best now just to avoid the page.

It might have something specifically to do with my computer... Video card,
etc.

When I attempt to bring that page up, I get a fatal protection error
naming swflash.ocx as the culprit. It kills Win98 SE completely, and I
have to reboot.

I've searched for that file, thinking it may be corrupt, but I don't even
have it on my System. Perhaps *that* is the problem? It may also be time
for another reformat. Everything else works just fine... no problems with
any pages, anywhere with IE.5.01

Any ideas?

I finally found the culprit file in my Windows/System Folder. I promptly
uninstalled Macromedia Flash Player, and deleted the Folder which still
contained swflash.ocx and when I tried to access the page, I simply
refused to download the player. I was then able to print out the page for
future reference.

I don't know what it was about the page that caused the problem, but I've
never had a problem with the Flash Player before this. Oh well...
