AFAIK, the latter.

And yet...

I'm currently using TB!'s RTV, and *your* mailto, with it's upper case
M in Mailto:; is causing your mailto to not be active in my
viewer (no underline - not clickable). It's not a fixed-width vs.
proportional font issue, as I'm using a fixed width font in this RTV
anyway (Courier New). It's a difference in how TB!'s Fixed width
viewer and it's Rich Text Viewer handles mailto:s with either an
upper case or lower case M in mailto:;.

Correct, and before I change my Mailto heading I want to be sure that the
problem isn't just faulty Mailto handling by TB, and in fact the RFC calls
for all lowercase letters. I'll start searching and see if I can locate
the applicable RFC. Finding the section that deals with Mailto's
specifically might well be another matter... ;o)

Why? It if works lower everywhere, and is broken capped somewhere, why
not just change. Lots less trouble than muddling thru a pile of rfcs,
even if the pile is only a virtual one.

 Correct

This problem also exists for http: links. In the editor, http: Http:
and HTTP all become hyperlinks when you get far enough along in typing
them, but only the ones which start lower case show up as links in the
RTV viewer.

Two reasons actually. Seeing a new sentence beginning with a lower case
letter bothers me to no end, and if the fault lies with the RTV, then it
really should be resolved. No?

I agree with that. Even if upper case doesn't comply, it should work.
But meanwhile, it just seemed reasonable to make the link work before
TB! gets around to fixing the bugs.

Yes, I will most likely end up doing that, but not before contacting
RITLabs to inform them of the discrepancy.

It was foretold that on 28-3-2002 @ 19:54:18 GMT-0800 (which was 4:54

Mailto:s and TB!'s RTV:

MR Just in case this is a typical problem for RTV's, you (lukie_be) might
MR consider changing your mailto so that it begins with a lower case m.

 tnx Melissa, just changed it.

It's strange though, because i can't recall having this problem in
 the past.
