Hi Marck,

In looking thru FAQ I found the following msg.

From: Marck D. Pearlstone
Subject: Re: Addressbook
Date: Sun, 10 Sep 2000 04:38:07 -0700

-

[...] TB only uses multiple addresses in the address book by
addressing a message to *all* addresses listed, either
directly of in BCC. It is more appropriate in the TB
universe to have a separate AB entry for each address [...]

I'm trying to resolve a question that I've posted
  under the subject "AB group".

I create an AB group of people.

I address an email to the group.

Can TB! parse the name of the group into the
  individual address within the group?

If so, what is the proper way to address the
group? I have not been successful with this.

As an experiment, I created the following:

  Group = Jan Rifkinson
  handle = janrif

  Within the group:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

If I want to address an email to the group, what
do I do? I don't seem to be the only person with
  this problem.

  Thanks.

Hello Mark,

M> Address the message to "My friends" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
M> then put all of your friends' addresses (or the name of the address
M> book group) in the BCC header. If you can't see that, then enable it
M> from the menu option "View -- Blind CC".

Thank you very much for the trick, I suppose it was more a RFC
thing than a TB! thing, so thank you very much for your time. Do you
know if it is possible to automatize the task? I mean that when you
send a message to a address book group, it appears automatically
"From: Benito", "To: My Friends", "BCC: ".

The other one is to leave your address as plain text. When spam is
received act on it. Inoshiro wrote an excellent
article on how to find the originator of spam. There is also and
excellent guide called "How to find spammers and make them suffer"
floating about on the internet. The other common places to harvest
e-mail addresses is ICQ and AIM. If a spammer adds themselves to your
list and you can get their IP address, have a little fun with them.
It's suprising the amount of spammers who don't realise they're
running compromised. For more information on dealing with spammers
check out #hack #spam on EFNet servers.

Actually Marck nospam *is* a registered domain
.com .co.uk .net .org.uk and .org are all registered.

As I'm sure you've noticed I don't 'munge' my e-mail address at all,
surprisingly I receive very little spam, at least compared with
others, guess I'm just lucky, now I've said that I'll probably be
deluged with the stuff.

Oh, I believe it. It's the best way for them to justify wasting
everyone elses time and in some cases money.

So, to be clear, does that mean that you just insert
".nospam" to confuse the bots or is that a real
address?

I may be mistaken but isn't it still possible for them to harvest
e-mail addresses that have obvious anti-spam additions to the e-mail
address?
