Thanks for this suggestion. So far have not had to resort to this, and

Yes, drastic having to uninstall.

alt-F4 would not work on it, only task manager.

The solution was to use RegEdit32

Find HKey_CurrentUser  - Software - RIT - TheBat

Export this, TheBat entry, as a backup.

If the problem comes back, use RegEdit32

to delete the troublesome registry entry

and then import the registry entry that you had backed up.

Have done the backup, and hope I don't have to use the backup.
