My problem was . . . I was getting some sort of error message from the
gate, but didn't realize it [it didn't bring focus to itself] so TB
just hung. I don't recall the error message, but it must have been a
net fluke, because after acknowledging the error and trying again to

I've installed MyGate today. And it's receiving and sending mails to
news groups, but the thing that happend to you also happened to me.
I had the "leave mail on server" on.

It would not be so bad if it happens just ones. But I've a group where
he did download 10.000 messages again and again. When I used kill
doubles he told me that he found around 20.000.

What am I doing wrong?
I download them to the inbox and then filter them to a folder.
The filtering is now set to manual since the bat stays connected until
all messages are filtered (althoug all messages are already
downloaded).

And I can say, after 40.000 messages, it takes a while :-).

Yes, the first time, I checked what it downloaded with OE, and it was
the 100 last messages, but now, I only get the replies to the threads
I have: no new thread, nor _everything_ like you.

That's what I did, and it now seems to work fine. In fact, I even
found the reason of this "bug": I had not subscribed to the right
group. Shame on me...

Thanks for your help. That's how I discovered my problem.

When using any address that won't resolve netetiquette dictates that
you utilize an address that can't resolve (and will not attempt to
resolve) such as [EMAIL PROTECTED] . This takes a great load off root
servers as, by standard, .invalid is recognized as a non-routable and
invalid naming convention.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Could resolve and will query root DNS servers.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ---> Invalid naming convention. No resolve query.

Notice anything above?

Try it yourself.

Anyway ...
