Here in Sweden our ISPs are trying to stop SPAM and Viruses by not
allowing connections to other SMTP servers than the one in the ISPs
network. This means that on my notebook I need to use one SMTP
server when I'm at home and one when I'm at work.

JP Easy solution, get your own SMTP server which I fail to see how your isp can
JP stop you using.

Actually, Telia (One of Swedens largest ISPs) blocks port 25 to stop
spreading of viruses and SPAM :)

Hello Ray Dawson,

Ray wrote:

RD How on earth do other users manage with SMTP posting and
RD multiple accounts? Surely relying on third-party applications
RD to send mail is not normal? I can be connected to any one of
RD four ISPs, but they all only allow mail to be sent if you are
RD actually connected to them. As things stand with TB, I have
RD to connect to all four ISPs in turn, just to send email.
RD Collection is fine from all four at once.

I have used Autoroute SMPT from Elcomsoft in the past to
automatically route ALL outgoing mail through the CONNECTED
service:

Program Description: Autoroute SMTP is designed for automatic
switching between SMTP servers depending on what network you
are currently working in.

Target OS: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000

Software type: Freeware

RD Why does TB insist on only sending mail through the smtp of
RD the account it was written from rather than the account it's
RD connected to?

This is the case with MOST mail clients I have ever tried. Then
again, my ISP's all (but two) require that their account be the
sending account!

Exceptions are runbox.com and my local ISP Cable Wireless. They
are open relays IF you use POP authentication FIRST. For this
reason I use my local ISP as the default OUTBOX for all mail when
on island and Runbox at all other times.

RD Cheers,

RD Ray D

There is a quicker way and that is to left click on the account
listed at the bottom of the message window and a drop down box shows
all the accounts you have set up. Simply click on the appropriate
one and the message is sent via that account.
