In Smart Bat!, I have created rather a large number of tabs, and I'd

drag-and-drop using mouse, and with ALT and CTRL and ALT-CTRL etc.,
 and nothing moves them.

MM no, but You can close TB and edit lines in file SmartBat.INI in MAIL
MM directory.

Brilliant! Worked like a charm.

Thanks!

Yes, I have. But:

- It doesn't have a system-wide key call
- It's e-mail dependant
- It doesn't have a 'search' function ;)

Re[2]: Smart Bat rules!

2002-03-29 Thread Roberto Machorro

Hi all!

I very often find myself in need of:

- Replying to several people similar ideas/stuff
So in SmartBat I copy/paste their names and ideas and hints of
what I want to tell them, then when I'm done checking all e-mail I
come back and reply. My previous solution was to open a New Message
and stick in some ideas in the edition box, soon I would have 5-12
emails, I'd come back to them and answer the question.

- Thread un-friendly lists
I don't know if people have noticed, but there are lots of
thread un-friendly lists out-there, not that it's the majordomo or
whatever software they are using's fault. But the people's fault. So
sometimes keeping a scratch-pad with notes helps you keep yourself on
top of things. I'm currently in about 27 lists, some low-volume, some
high volume.

- Organizing ideas with several people
I participate in several open-source (whoops! I mean GPLed :)
projects, upon a heavy discussion where several ideas an criticisms
where thrown in I would take out notepad and put in ideas. Storing
them with the date as the filename. SmartBat puts it all in a single
easy to access area and you can skip between the dates using the
calendar thingy.

- Pre-create e-mails
Sometimes it's easier to sketch e-mails through the day (as
ideas are coming to you) and then just sending them off when desired.
The Message postponing, Notes combo was OK though, but I like it this
way better, my whole reasoning is there at a glance.

There are much more things you can do with just a plain text editor
with a search function ;) like SmartBat. And I know I'll find out
more and so will you!
