That solved a lot of problems for me (in Ameol as well as
The Bat!).

Oh well spoke too soon. :(

The connection centre connected to a totally different account to any
of the one's I've had recent problems with.

The log window shows:-

receiving mail messages
connected to POP3 server

and was just sitting there. The account wasn't being checked at later
times although other accounts were checked okay.I left it for a
considerable time

The good news is that when I clicked on cancel task it did just that
and a manual 'get new mail' ran okay, and there was not in fact any
mail on the account waiting for collection.

I hope nobody misunderstands me. I'm not complaining about the cc just
reporting what I'm seeing. I like this new version but the cc is
causing me some problems.

I just wonder now that if the pop3 server fails in some way that the check
is not timed out correctly.

With versions prior to 1.52 TheBat would do just that with a 'Ping' :)

If you are serious about this, please consider that this mailing list
is for TB! users, being run by TB! users. The developers of TB! seldom
make an appearence here. Have you sent your suggestion to RIT Labs
yet? (Help -> Feedback -> Suggestions)

Hope that helps,

When I said the focus is random I didn't mean to imply
a 50-50 split. In my case the CC has focus about 95% of
the time. Only rarely is it on the task bar.
I am running under Windows 98SE.

Wow! Rough week? :)

Now I realize that everyone's needs are different, but I would rather that thing
just stay out of the way like it does... I'd be mighty irritated if that thing
popped up & took the focus every time mail was checked! I've got some accounts
with which I do a periodic check quite frequently.

And perhaps someone can explain to me how the behavior is different now than it
was prior to the Connection Centre's existence. When there was one little window
showing progress for each account being checked, those little windows never took
the focus. Why, all of the sudden, is this such a huge issue that would cause
users to abandon TB! in droves and prevent any new users from considering TB!?

Now perhaps if the CC took the focus every time mail was checked I might
have to abandon TB! :)
