Regarding group templates

2003-10-05 Thread daniel hahler
Hello all,

ok. After the recent thread about using addressbook (and -group)
templates, I changed my TB lists to that behaviour.

But:
1. it would be very good to have an identity tab for each address book
entry (as with the folders), which will be used when sending to that
recipient/list!
Now I have to write the new message in the according folder anyway, as
it wouldn't use the address for that list.
And having a template for each TB list, instead of a group is not that
comfortable.

2. The "" filter in sorting office now filters the mails from
the TB lists into "Inbox - Known", as it stands upon the lists
filters. But this should not happen, because the lists_tb group isn't
checked in the filter's settings.
Looks like a bug!

Strange, i have just completed that operation but filtering the
messages is still ok. But i have not clicked on my personal
addressbook (that is the top). Maybe that's the problem?

You can use the %ACCOUNT macro in the template for that.

My suggestion would be to make an adress book group "TB lists" then.

Maybe you just have to place the "Known" filter after the TB filter so that
it will be processed first.

that wouldn't work, as I use the lists _within_ one account with
different identities.

That's what I have, but I cannot use the %ACCOUNT macro there, as it
would result in _one_ address for the four theBat! lists (which are
all subscribed on different addresses).

That's what I did now, but I shouldn't have to, as the contact group
"TB lists" isn't checked in the filter.

So you haven't checked anything in the filter? or just special
groups (except the tB-list)?

In each template for the list, define your identity using the %FROM
macro:

%From="Tom <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>"

DH> And having a template for each TB list, instead of a group is not

If you use the same identity for all TBLists, then you could create an
address book group, add an entry for each TBList, then define group
templates. For each, add the %From macro to define the appropriate
identity.

Perhaps.

To avoid that, put the Known Filter after the list filters. In this way
the list filters will catch the list messages first.

But that would mean to have a template for each list, instead of one
fore the whole "TB lists" group!

But it would work to have a RegEX, which takes the first part of the
addressee (until the '@') and uses that for the %From='[EMAIL PROTECTED]'.

Although an Identity tab would be more flexible.

my mailinglists are also unchecked, like all other groups. Just
"Personal Address Book" is checked, but the mailinglist groups do not

Why? You could use group templates.

DH> But it would work to have a RegEX, which takes the first part of the

DH> %From='[EMAIL PROTECTED]'.

I see that you use a separate address for each list.

You could use an if macro for this.

Create a quick template with the handle name 'addr' and place in it:

%IF:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:tbudl:""%-
%IF:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:tbbeta:""%-
%IF:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:tbtech:""

In your group template use:

%From="Daniel Hahler <%Qinclude='addr'@thequod.de"

This will generate the appropriate address. You can adjust the if macro
as needed. I don't know if you're subscribed to TBTECH.

Thanks. That works like a charm. But it would be even better, if you
could get the addressbook group of %Toaddr.
Sth like %AbToGroup, but that is not implemented.

Is there another way of getting this?

This isn't for the "TB lists", but in general, as I could use
different from-addresses for the different groups (support, friends,
..)
