That's because you have 'Auto Format' activated. Turn it off in
the editor preferences and this will behave as you expect it. Or
you can just leave a blank line after the quoted text (which is
generally considered more legible anyway).

Quote & Cursor Position

2001-03-31 Thread Tim Rowe

Hi TBUDL,

When placing the cursor under a line of quoted text and typing, the
cursor 'pops up' and typing occurs next to the quoted text rather
than in the line under it (unless I press enter twice).

Is there a remedy for this?

Don't be humble about this. For additional addressees one *should*
use "CC" and "BCC". That's what they are there for.

In the "TO" header should only be the main recipient. If one wants
different people to be addressed as "main" use the mass mailing
feature (BTW, anyone to answer my question from yesterday?)

No, there's no way of doing this. TB! will always start in the To:
field when creating a new message, even though you created the message
from the address book or used the %To macro to automatically add
addresses.

This issue sparked a vigourous discussion in the past. Some actually
preferred the present implementation because it obeyed the natural,
logical progression of how one would go about composing a message, in
that one would proceed to fill out the fields in descending order. (I
agree to this point since this will certainly prevent blank subjects)
Advocators of this implementation further went on to argue that the
To: field should *still* be the starting field, even though you may
have used a macro or the address book to automatically add addresses,
because the user may wish to add additional addresses. (this latter
argument, IMHO, is a weak one).

When selecting 'create a new message' TB! places the cursor in 'To:'
header field, even when the default template includes %TO="address".
This is in contrast to 'reply to message' which places the cursor in
the message body.

Is it possible to have the TB! place the cursor in the message body of
a new message, as per the reply default?
