Right, well, it seems to difficult to keep track of, for me at
least.

I have removed all group templates. When I want to send mail to a
group (newsletter type), I have created a "dummy" AB entry (goes
back to myself) which holds the template for the newsletter. This
I place in the To field.

The grouphandle goes to the Bcc field.

Not really, but I'll try. It's still somewhat theoretical and quite
hard to configure, but it should work if you can configure it.

ÖH> Because as soon as I send a mail to an AB entry that has no

Exactly the point. If the first groups you create are the ones with
the generic templates then those are the templates that will get used
for their members when there are no entry specific AB templates.

Like I say, it's a theory. I don't need this functionality for
myself and I would have to rip apart my address book and rebuild it
around a better constructed group-set to take advantage of it. This is
because the groups seem to stick in the order in which they are
created. A member of multiple groups favours the first group of which
they are a member.

Could you please explain this? I have been trying to use Group
templates but stopped.

Because as soon as I send a mail to an AB entry that has no
personal template, it picks up a template from one of the Groups
it belongs to.

Using Group templates implied having to create AB templates for
every entry so I gave it up.

I'm also bilingual 50/50 so to be able to set the spelling
without having to create a template would be great.

Hello Juergen,

>No, not quick templates, but personal templates for every person in
>you address book.

You can do a combination. Define the template in quick templates as
Marck described then use the %QINCLUDE macro in your address book
templates. I personally think this is better style for several
reasons. In no particular order:

1. One centralised location for template editing.

2. You can define small portions of your templates and build up to
   more complex templates.

3. changes are easy, and get propagated to all affected
   templates.

4. It is a lot easier to retype only one line for any new contacts
that come in. All their templates need is one line, %QINCLUDE="handle"

5. You can use your templates across accounts if you so desire.

6. There are many types of templates (AB entries, AB groups,
Folder, Account, Print, Save, Auto-reply, Filters, etc.),
quick templates are very useful in simplifying the confusion.

I'm sure there are other reasons to use Quick templates primarily, and
then reference them from your other template locations. I'll let
others expand more if they feel the urge.

> Do it thst way. Create a template for a special

This is good if there are very few AB entries/groups who need that
specific template. If sets of commands are common to many of those
templates, consider putting those sets of commands into quick
templates and refer to them from your AB templates.

Isn't the %Language macro enough, as others have pointed out? You
don't need to set it up for each individual. Create a group in AB
and set it there, then put all those to whom you need to write in
English (or German) into the group.

In AB entry properties, go to the "Other" pane and the first option
there is "when writing messages, always use character set: xxx". The

Define your QTs and GERTEMP and ENGTEMP respectively. Make your
account default template something like
  %language=""
  %qinclude="GERTEMP"

Then, in the AB entries for the English speaking folk, use
  %qinclude="ENGTEMP"

You can increase the sophistication by adding Reply and Forward QTs in
the two languages and building those up as described above.

No, not quick templates, but personal templates for every person in
you address book. Do it thst way. Create a template for a special
person in your address book. Every time you are creating a message

You seem to wish to use address book templates. If you right click any
address book entry and look in the properties, you'll see template
editors for new, reply and forward messages. You could place your
English speaking correspondents addresses in an address book group and
define templates for the address book group by going into the address
book groups properties. Include the %language="" macro in all the group
templates. Whenever you create new messages to anyone in the group, the
defined group template and hence the correct language, will be used.

I'm not seeing how using a quick template would be advantageous in this
particular instance. Quick templates are particularly useful in two main
circumstances:
a) When you use a particular template component in many templates, such
as a signature template or a regex based macro. If you change either of
these, then the change will be reflected where ever the quick template is
being used.
c) Templates that aren't used frequently and which cannot be associated
with a particular recipient.

Yes. Use the %language="" macro in your AB templates.

Help excerpt:

LANGUAGE=”Language ID” - set the default spell checker language to
the language defined by Language ID. Possible Language IDs can be:

 AM - American English

 EA - Australian English

 BR - British English

PS// If you're using any English apart from American, you'll need to
install the international pack.
