v. 2 IMAP freezes program

2003-09-10 Thread Christopher LaFond
Using The Bat! v2.00.6 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600
Service Pack 1

Since I changed to v.2, the one account that I have which is IMAP
freezes the program most (but not all) of the time when I click on the
Inbox. The program stops responding. If it doesn't stop responding
when I click on the Inbox, it freezes when I click on one of the
message headers that it has downloaded (though I have it set for full
synchronization, with the Inbox subscribed, so I should get more than
just headers), but then I click on a message and it freezes then too.

This happens about 50% of the time, and often, I will have to force
the program to quit. If I switch to do something else and come back to
it later, occasionally it has corrected itself.

Does anyone know what's going on? I don't have this problem with the
POP accounts that I have.

Chris

Maybe that's because no one had a response. It's not as if you waited

reposting is considered bad manners.

I'm not using v2 but I've read that one has to convert all existing v1 IMAP
accounts to POP3 prior to updating to v2, because its IMAP support is
entirely rewritten and completely different.

It does not matter if you fall down, as long as you pick something up from

OK, since nobody seems to have ideas about what's going on, I'll chime
in. I use a different Windows version than Christopher (see my sig),
but I also experience IMAP operations freezing TB! I promptly stopped
using IMAP in TB! after 3 or 4 freezes, so I can't offer a specific
diagnosis of what causes it, but the problem certainly isn't unique to
Christopher. I hope the developers are aware of this.

True. Someone else on the list that I know didn't see it come through
though, so I wanted to be sure that there wasn't a problem, since I
just signed on recently.

Chris is a new subscriber to The Bat! list. When he sent his first
mail, it did not seem to appear here on the list. This second attempt
was made because it seemed the first had not worked.

The last day or so has been fine now. But then this has happened
before, it's fine for a bit, and then it goes back to freezing. If it
froze all the time, I wouldn't bother, since the one IMAP account I
have is for work. But it's stringing me along just enough to keep my
hopes up.
