Is there some bug report about this I could subscribe to? I don't see it among
the Alpha blockers (shouldn't it be there?).

Thanks.

I don't think so. He said 'flashing'. That's typically a sign of it
crashing, since it auto-respawns; so if it crashes on startup, you see
it flickering as it starts up, crashes, starts up, crashes, starts up,
crashes...

It already has been added back, but I believe the updated package is
only in updates-testing, it did not make the Alpha freeze.

Try updating your system with the following from koji:

accountsservice-0.6.4-3.fc15.x86_64.rpm
accountsservice-libs-0.6.4-3.fc15.x86_64.rpm
dbus-1.4.6-1.fc15.x86_64.rpm
dbus-devel-1.4.6-1.fc15.x86_64.rpm
dbus-libs-1.4.6-1.fc15.x86_64.rpm
dbus-x11-1.4.6-1.fc15.x86_64.rpm
gobject-introspection-0.10.3-1.fc15.x86_64.rpm
gsettings-desktop-schemas-0.1.7-2.fc15.noarch.rpm
upower-0.9.8-3.fc15.x86_64.rpm
upower-devel-0.9.8-3.fc15.x86_64.rpm

Then update your system from updates-testing.

Not all of the above may be needed, but they don't hurt.

Doing the above got me working again--as well as stripping my home
directory of all things gnome (careful there, backup so you can get back
pics, music, docs, downloads, bookmarks, etc, just in case).

Good luck.

I think he's referring to the fact that GDM currently doesn't allow
use of anything other than gnome (IE I don't believe it gives you a
drop down list of the desktop environment to allow you to choose
multiple options). It was discussed, I believe on the desktop list,
and it was said that the removed feature would be added back prior to
the final stable release of gnome shell.

Again, vague questions do not lead to satisfactory answers. It sounds
like you're hitting a crash in gdm and also in Shell. I would recommend
you look through the bugs filed against each recently, and also
discussed on this list, and see if you can identify which ones you are
suffering from. Then you can follow those reports to see when they are
fixed.

#173: Obsoleting the tests for verifying http/nfs/ftp/hard disk install sources

Comment (by jlaska):

I like your idea of creating/renaming tests to be ''Installation
repository''. In addition to that, some test rewording may be required.
I think all the same installation sources are still supported, but the
phrasing, and the procedure, has changed slightly.

An attempt to identify the methods for testing the different
''Installation repository'' scenarios. This doesn't include the
''Additional repository'' tests. As you noted, those may need to be run
 also :(

 {{{
 #!html

 }}}

What do you think about the idea of including additional variations inside
a test case. My thought here is that the test could still pass using the
default test scenario, but would result in a warning if any of the
optional test variations fail. Is this confusing, should we just create
distinct test cases for each of the optional test variations? I was
hoping to avoid that, but not if it's too confusing.

 > Can you clarify this? do you mean ftp can be a option in http test
 cases?

Yeah, since pycurl is used now for HTTP and FTP, I'm wondering if we need
to explicitly call out FTP in our tests. Should we leave that as a
 variation?

 R-2.12.2-1.fc15 (FEDORA-2011-2436)
A language for data analysis and graphics

Update Information:

Update to R 2.12.2. A full list of changes in this release is here:
http://cran.r-project.org/src/base/NEWS

Notably, it fixes this issue:

Complex arithmetic (notably z^n for complex z and integer n) gave
incorrect results since R 2.10.0 on platforms without C99 complex
support. This and some lesser issues in trignometric functions
have been corrected. Such platforms were rare (we know of Cygwin and FreeBSD).
However, because of new compiler optimizations in the way complex arguments are
handled, the same code was selected on x86_64 Linux with gcc 4.5.x at the
default -O2 optimization (but not at -O).

In addition, rpy and rkward were rebuilt to use the new R. No other changes
were made to these packages.

ChangeLog:

* Sun Feb 27 2011 Tom Callaway  - 2.12.2-1
- update to 2.12.2

 aether-1.11-2.fc15 (FEDORA-2011-2424)
Sonatype library to resolve, install and deploy artifacts the Maven way

Update Information:

This is a upstream release candidate with several bugfixes. This also solves
problem with mvn3 unable to reach remote repositories.

ChangeLog:

* Mon Feb 28 2011 Stanislav Ochotnicky  - 1.11-2
- Rebuild after bugfix update to plexus-containers (#675865)
* Fri Feb 25 2011 Stanislav Ochotnicky  - 1.11-1

gnome-shell and gsettings-desktop-schemas-0.1.7-2.fc15.x86_64...

2011-03-01 Thread Rob Healey
Greetings:

I followed the different post that were made yesterday regarding gnome-shell
and gsettings-desktop-schemas that Adam Williamson told us about...

I also tried removing the at-spi2-* files and still no success!

I made sure that upower, accountsservice, dbus, and gobject-introspection*
were all installed and current updates-testing packages ...

I decided that maybe it might have been something that I installed later, so
I dumped my system and loaded straifgr deom the F-15-Alpha-Live-Desktop
x86_64 live image! So that I would have at least a stable install...

I got the blank screen as so many others have done ! I am unsure how to
proceed from here? I get the gdm login with no problems. When I get the
screensaver started, it shows the date/ time, switch user icons all on the
top row...

When I wake up the system, the login prompt flashes but will let me log back
in though...

I am currently in KDE because Gnome-shell is useless to me right now!

Sincerely yours,
Rob G. Healey

I found out that this test case is no longer valid:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_Anaconda_User_Interface_serial_console

Since we switched to systemd, there seems to be no longer 'initctl'
command. Could someone who understands systemd correct the instructions?

[Fedora QA] #175: Improve transfer of previous test results in the installation matrix

2011-03-01 Thread Fedora QA
#175: Improve transfer of previous test results in the installation matrix
-+--
 Reporter: kparal | Owner: rhe
 Type: enhancement | Status: new
 Priority: major| Milestone: Fedora 15
Component: Wiki | Version:
 Keywords: |

Currently in our installation matrix there are some test results which are
from "anonymous" source (no name filled in). Example:

 https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_15_Alpha_RC2_Install

I was little confused by that, but rhe explained me that those are the
test results that were transfered from the previous test result (i.e. from
F15 Alpha RC1 in this case). We already agreed if would be better if we
added with explanation to each such result, so other testers
understand the meaning of it (I suppose many of them might be confused
same as I was). Still, I think there are some improvements that could be
made. I'd like to discuss them in this ticket.

 My proposal:
  1. Transferring old results to the new matrices is a great idea, I
 strongly support that.
  2. In order to avoid confusion about "anonymous" results, we should
clearly separate new results from transfered results. Using a
comment is possible, but I'd like to do something more visible. We could
do something like {{result|fail|rc1|12345}} and then link rc1 to correct
wiki page (if {{result}} template is not suitable for it, we could create
{{oldresult}} template or similar). But even though it could be scripted,
it seems like too much work. Easier solution is to do
{{result|fail|previous run|12345}}, and if "previous run" is linked to
[[User:previous run]], we could use that wiki page for short explanation.
  3. We should transfer only fails and warnings, not passes. The rationale
is that the pass result makes you (me, many people) think: "Hey, there's a
pass, let's work on something else". But pass from previous run doesn't
mean pass in current run (as I experienced today, when I changed two
previous passes to fails). Therefore warnings and fails are good to know
(we can check whether they are fixed or not, and we won't forget about
them), but passes are counter-productive - let's leave empty fields
 instead.
  4. All transfered results must have bugzilla number assigned. Otherwise
there's no information value. If I don't know what was broken, I can't
check whether it's been fixed or not.
  5. We should document all of this in the "Test Results Format" table and
also advise people how to interact with these transfered results. My idea:
If there was a transfered warn/fail, and you checked that the problem is
fixed, remove it from the table (and put your result in there instead). If
you checked that the problem is still present, again remove it from the
table and put your result in there instead (referencing the same bug
number). If you didn't check the problem, put your result in the table and
 leave the transfered result intact.

 What do you think?

Current wayland needs a post-7.10 devel snapshot which is unlikely to
