This is a general test to ensure everything is okay for the release,
including regression testing and testing of new capabilities (e.g.
importing SRPMs). We have plans for hosting it ourselves.

Can you confirm you are still on grub1? Have to tried with kernel 3.1.0?

GRUB2 supports several new md raid levels (0,4,5,6,10) and also lvm
logical volumes as the /boot device. It would be nice to get some testing
coverage for this, including combinations like root on lvm (no separate
 /boot) w/ md raid pvs.

F-16 alpha shipped witha boot.iso that did not have isohybrid run on it,
this means you can not just dd it to a usb drive and boot it.

 = bug analysis =
slipped though as there was no test case

 = fix recommendation =

lorax has been fixed, but we should make sure we cover it in testing.

Release criteria: kickstart

2011-08-23 Thread Adam Williamson
Hey, folks. So, another criteria discussion. It came up during Alpha
that we're grievously lacking criteria to ensure kickstart installs
work. So, we should kick that around a bit, I guess...

kickstart is a very broad area; you can write extremely complex
kickstart files that do a lot of stuff. So broadly what we'd need to do
is define a subset of kickstart functionality that we expect to work,
and then possibly divide that up by release phase (so some stuff must
work by Beta, the rest by Final, for e.g.)

anaconda devs following this list, do you have any existing expectations
as to what level of kickstart functionality ought to be in place for
releases, and when you think would be appropriate?

So far it seems everyone more or less agrees that it should be possible
to do at least a basic unattended kickstart install by Beta.

Installed by default, not sure how to tell if it is booting with grub1 or 2?
I do not have the normal files in /boot/grub/ that I'm used to, only one
file named splash.xpm.gz, then a bunch of stuff in /boot/grub2/.

Just updated to kernel-3.1.0-0.rc3.git0.0.fc16.x86_64, same problem.

According to this:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Grub2

grub2 is used by default with F16, so I'm gonna guess that's what I'm using!

I tried this: grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg, which does give
parameters in /boot/grub2/grub.cfg, which was empty before, but it doesn't
help with booting the update kernels.

My problem is a bit different than your bug, the F16rc5 install booted fine.
Its only the update kernels that fail.

Thanks!
