Printing Test Day on Thursday (2011-10-06)
The Printing Test Day for Fedora 16 is this week: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2011-10-06_Printing This event will focus on all aspects of printing; including printer setup, printer sharing and printing jobs. There are several parts of the operating system to be tested: * CUPS, and the various drivers * the GTK+ print dialog * The GNOME 3 parts that integrate with printing: - System Settings 'Printers' module - Status feedback notifications (gnome-settings-daemon) * system-config-printer for more advanced set-ups Full instructions are available on the wiki page¹ and there will be people in #fedora-test-day on Freenode IRC² throughout the day. If you have some time spare on Thursday please drop in. Thanks! ¹ https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2011-10-06_Printing ² irc://irc.freenode.net/fedora-test-day Tim. */ signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part -- test mailing list test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/test

Karma request for F16 Beta updates
Hey, folks - we need to up-karma all the updates that went into F16 Beta so they can be pushed out to mirrors ahead of release, so people who net install with updates-testing disabled will get the Beta package set. The remaining updates which need karma are: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2011-13478 (anaconda) https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/grub-0.97-79.fc16 for the first one, you can +1 if Beta RC4 installed for you, pretty much. For the second, you need to have an F16 system with grub (not grub2), which many of you who updated from F15 may have. Or if you have an EFI-capable system and can confirm you can install Beta RC4 via EFI and boot it, that's a good test too. Once these hit +3 karma we should be done with Beta packages! f 16 beta in virtualbox
I'm able now to log in graphically in F16 and get Gnome Shell, but only with the alternative status menu extension disabled. (The Alt trick to see the Power Off... option works, at least.) In Rawhide, I still can't log in graphically at all, even with the gnome-shell-extension-* packages removed. Today there were F16 updates for gnome-shell-extension-* so that might account for the difference. With the regular guest additions, I would get fallback mode in both, and that worked normally. -- test mailing list test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/test

The 'advanced graphics' video feature in Virtualbox seldom works in Rawhide and the current 'branched' package (currently Fedora 16) because Virtualbox does not support alpha/beta/non-release versions of Xorg. This has gotten worse since it was decided to kill system-config-display and make monitor recognition and resolution into 'plug-n-pray'. -- David -- test mailing list test@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/test
